Wow, I still remember glancing at this issue of Road&Track at the bookstore back in the 80's; I was disappointed back then that the Countach was slower than the BB.

Looking at the performance numbers now, I'm amused that my humble G37 sedan can keep up with both cars.

It's crazy how entry level sports cars can keep up with these cars. I am sure in those cars, driving that fast would feel death defying though.

I like the comment about how "no successors are planned"

When clearly the Testarossa/512TR was a successor to the boxer, and the Countach spawned a never-ending chain of mid-engined V12 atomic death wedges up to the current Aventador.

It would be nice to see an MR Flat-12 Ferrari road car again though.

    Cool article.

This is one of my favorite R&T magazine covers.

Looking around the web, I could make a few bucks selling some of my old car magazines.

My neighbor has a couple of these in his basement. They are fresh too. Only a few years old with full thread / never mounted.

I'm impressed that there are still articles in good enough shape to scan. All mine ended up having the pages stuck together.... for some reason.....

Damn, I have every R&T from 1985-2008 in the attic. I should look into that.

I remember about 10 years ago checking ebay and people were selling 12 issue lots for specific years. Most were $10-$20 which tempted me until I realized I didn't have any more space. Now it seems everyone is parting out the collections one by one. Unless you are prepared to invest serious time, it might not be worth it.

I did sell about $300 worth of magazines but wouldn't do it again. Running to the post office, answering emails, listing the issues, etc, etc, just takes up too much time for the $5 return on each one.

I believe it. My wife stopped selling our kids old clothes on ebay for the same reason. It was profitable, it was just a pain in the neck.

Interesting how both cars were federalized by third parties, back before either marque was involved with some other massive global car company. Or maybe that's only interesting to me.

BTW, the trap speed for the Boxer should be 105, not 100. I have a later corrected version. And if u look at the 0-100 time of 12.4 but a quarter in 13.5 @ 100 u can see how thats not possible.

I can't believe the Ferrari weighed in excess of 3,600 pounds...

Hideous attempt at US spec bumpers does not treat the 512 well here. The 512 was never made for the US market, so every car is a grey import.

My dad has every issue of R&T going back to early 60's.
