Thread: Can I use a b3 passat ac condensor and lines in a corrado?

  1. 03-29-2012 12:31 PM #1
I have a Corrado with a Vr swap. I have also swapped the evaporator to accept the passat lines. Will the Passat condensor fit under the Corrado radiator support or is it too tall? It'll save me a bit on the cost of the condenser.
    Thanks

The Passat Condenser I have is twice as thick as a Corrado. Maybe I have a B4 Condenser, IDK

I know people have used the Passat Lines with Vrs because they go over the Shock tower and give way for a Turbo intake pipe. However, if you have B3 lines you may have problems with the connections unless you are using the G60 Evap and Expansion valve. B4 have the connections to the Exp valve like the VR (which is the set that I have)

Thanks guys! Well I changed out the Evap to the VR type, so the VR lines should be a direct bolt-on. I just keep seeing about a $100 difference in price between the passat and corrado condenser. Anyone know why?

yep, it's because most Corrado stuff is Corrado only and was not mass produced for cheap in Mexico like most of the other. To top it, the A/C stuff was only used for ~ 2 years for each model.

You can use the Passat Condenser if you want an ugly cut in the top of the Rad Support.

Only One line can be used from the B3 Passat and that is to replace the line that runs from the Expansion Valve to the Compressor.

Your better using rado vr6 setup for clean setup. That right. Only the expansion hose to the compressor is interchangeable. Rado line in cleaner, and the passat goes over the strut tower. You can use mk3 setup with the passat expansion(evaporator) to compressor line with the mk3 ac system. Yes you have cut upper core support to clear the ac line from condenser to compressor. And mk3 drier and high pressure switch will be on the pass side area under the bumper.

Mk3 even b4 ac system way better than G60 ac system.how I know, have mk3 ac system in my G60 with mk4 hvac box and round dials. that a different story.

Thanks. I'll look into what parts I have available and go from there. I should have all the parts to do the Mk3 setup instead. Will post results.

Sorry if you've answered this but I'd like to know if the mk3 golf 2.0 condensor works.
I'm only wondering because I have one.
