hey guys, I put a set of tien springs (S tech or something) that I had on my 97 jetta, on my 90 jetta yesterday. I know the front mounts are slightly smaller, but its not a prob, it just sits about an 1/8 inch higher in the mount. Its not gonna push through or anything. no freakin way.
Anyway, my question is this. The front sits approx as it did on the mk3, but the rear is much lower. The 97 sat perfectly level, but the mk2 literaly has an inch different from the front of the rocker lip to the rear of the rocker lip. Anyone know why its so different? Thanks for the help.![]()

I don't know about the springs that you used, but many companies spec the same springs for MKIII ABA and MKIII VR cars. I have found many MKIII cars with Passat front springs on them (wrong springs), and that will make a MKIII sit high at the front. If you were to install Passat front springs on a MKII, I would think the result would be even higher on a MKII. Since MKIII VR front ends are much heavier than MKII front ends with 1.8s, the front end is going to end up higher than the rear.
The condition of the strut mounts may also make a difference.

Did you change the front strut brushing in the 90 to the later style "small top spring" mk3 style ?
I have mk3 vr shine racing springs in my mk2 four banger and it sits at stock height
if you can't find mk2 parts PM me I can find whatever you need
I also make custom parts like grilles PM me with what you would want ie integrated aftermarket fogs and such like that
