This isn't the the Fast and the Fartiest please don't do Burnouts or crazy revving its going to kill the meets like last week, it just takes one person to give us all a bad name we don't need that. In Barrie tuned cars already do

These meets happen every Wed nite?

To much negative cogitation with meetings at night hence the harassment from the cops and immature individuals who use the cover of darkness to conduct their juvenile antics.

Personally I prefer the idea of having the meets during the day with light out so the cars can be better seen. Sunday afternoons at the water front on public land would be ideal, if we have nothing to hide then the best way for us as a club is to showcase in the public eye our involvement with the community.

It's too hard to have weekend meets everyone is always busy. wed night is mid week after work much easier for most to make it out.

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the Barrie area. 2 months ago I moved from Mississauga to Innisfil. I commute daily to work in Mississauga though, so about 1000kms a week of driving. My reliable and fuel efficient Toyota Echo was decent but I needed better gas mileage so I only had one choice...to buy a TDI.

Last week I found one on Auto Trader from a private seller. Bought it, and it drove fine for a week, and then all of a suddent a few days ago while commuting, to work it overheated. Took it to the Mississauga VW dealer and it's a water pump issue. They want $1100 for a water pump and timing belt and new brake pads and rotors in order to safety it (it's on a temp sticker registration right now). I was well aware that with the car being at 167k, the timing belt had been due at 160k. Yes, I know stupid me for not getting it safetied before buying it to catch the brake issue. It brakes fine but apparently they're a bit rusty, even though the rest of the car has no rust.

Anyways, I called the local VW specialist in Innisfil "V-Dubbs" and they want just over half the price of what the Sauga VW dealer wants. (water pump, timing belt and all brake pads and rotors replaced)That seems much more reasonable to me, plus I prefer to support a local business and establish a relationship with them, rather than a stealership. I just bought a CAA membership yesterday and have to wait the 48 hours till tomorrow so I can get it towed at no charge from Mississauga over here to V-Dubbs in Innisfil to get the job done there.

Anyone have any other suggestions? The car is a 2003 Golf GLS TDI. A few days after I got it I went to Amsoil (since I have a membership and work somewhat close to thei distribution center in Sauga) and bought some replacement parts like air filter and cabin air filter, which for someone mechanically stupid like me is easy to do. Once the car is fixed tomorrow or Thursday hopefully I can find the time to go to the local barrie meet...

i've never dealt with v-dubbs, but the stealership will always be pricey. THey can have it in and out in one day though, wich is a plus.

Do yourself a favour and leave the stock filter in there. Oiled filters tend to destroy MAF's quite quickly.

Yes Oil filters kill mafs, I popped one on my R and CEL came on the next day, so I cleaned the MAF and put a new filter non oil on and still throwing codes so new maf time and Im going to do new spark plugs as well
