So my uncle sold me his gli because the timing belt went out in it and he didn't want to mess with fixing it so I bout it for $3000 and I am going to get it fixed for hopefully around a thousand. The car is a 2004.5 and it has 90k miles car is really clean except for the dent he put in it towing it to mebut all good I will get her looking good.
My plans are: chip, intercooler, k04, and exhaust.
Exterior: air ride, fix dent and some sick a** wheels I'm not really sure on the wheels yet but I have been looking.
I will get pics up soon.

So I'm having secant thoughts on my cars timing belt being out in it. I have done a little research and I took the timing belt cover off and the belt looks decent it's not torn or anything like that and it's got a little play in it and that should be normal beings it has 90000 miles on it right?
My uncle said when it happened or whatever happened he was driving down the highway and the car just stopped running, no noise, no clanking or anything like that. So he rolled to a stop, called the tow truck and he sent it to the shop where they "said" they took one of the spark plugs out and ran a camera down and they said that some valves where messed up.
But how can that be when he heard no noises? I talked to a local shop and they said it kind of sounds like a fuel pump?
Please thoughts, opinions?

So here she is waiting for the tow truck. She is going to get fixed!!
yea I know she is super dirty but she has been sitting.
But I got the interior nice and clean.
I will update when I know what's wrong with it. I'm Praying that it's nothing big!!

So what was the problem? I'm betting the timing belt. Just because the belt is in one piece does not mean that:
1. Multiple teeth are missing, allowing pulleys to free spin and jump timing
2. Tensioner busted, allowing it spin timing
3. Crankshaft timing belt pulley keyway sheared, allowing it skip timing
It doesn't really make a noise when something like that happens, the car just dies. If you plug a scanner into the car you likely have a cam position sensor code, which in this situation is key sign of timing belt trouble.
Doubt it. Read above.
Good luck. With a shop doing the work it's going to be about 1500ish...

Sorry took a while to get back been pretty busy at work.
Yep deff the timimg beltshould be done within a couple weeks, the shop is pretty busy. I was really hoping that it wouldnt be the timing belt but oh well I got it dirt cheap and with the timimg belt and the price of the car I only paid 4300$ not bad for what its wroth.
