I did some searching and found someone with the same dsg rattle chatter noise I am getting from my R (check link below)
My R has 102,000 miles, runs excellent but the dsg makes a noise mostly when I am in gear stopped with my foot on the brake. I was wondering if anyone has had the same noise on there R? Also while I was under the car checking out the chatter noise I noticed a faint exhaust leak somewhere in the headers near the flex pipe. It is a hard spot to get to look for it due to the crossmember. Has anyone had a similar exhaust leak? I want to fix it and I plan to put on a cat back exhaust very soon but I really dont want to spend the money on a set of headers. Any help would be great and if this has already been covered I am sorry but I didnt find it searching. thanks

i just had my cats & flex pipe replaced under warranty at 65k from a hard-to-find leak that was throwing CEL's for months. but there was no DSG involvement of any kind.

I am pretty sure I am completely out of warranty. Off subject but if I gave vw my vin could they tell me if my car has had any recalls performed or needs any done?

wait, you too? aber and apparently some other dude in the midwest had the same issue. As did that other guy who said he got hit with a bunch of crap at 110k miles.

    This is so odd.

Yes. There is also a website where you can check this as well. It's on the VW (or VWoA) website somewhere. I can't remember exactly where without poking around a bit.

I had chatter coming from the transmission while standing still. It was the dual mass flywheel starting to come apart. Mine was replaced under warranty.

^^^ this...get your flywheel checked out ASAP

betaop9 had his fail @ WiTW and is looking @ $9k+ in non-warranty work. his bolts were backing out of the dual-mass flywheel.

    please post back your findings.

I have been keeping a close eye on mine still... I was told mine was normal but it hasn't been or sounding loud as of lately. I will be having my 40k service done at the dealer for the DSG so if anything happens I won't be at fault. Knock on wood for no issues....

I thought it was a concensus that a little chatter from these transmissions was normal when in "D" and stopped at a light with foot on the brakes??
