So, yeah. I just picked this up. This is all for you, Rutledge. If you hadn't been so damned excited about this car when you reviewed it on Top Gear, I wouldn't have this sitting in my garage now.

My youngest son giggles maniacally when I punch it. He's going to be such a speed demon

It is because of people like you that I have a chance to pick up one of these used. Please tell me it is a manual.

This makes me happy. Every one they sell means they are going to continue producing this kind of thing.

Bless you for having the sight. Enjoy.

I'm sorry, but if I'm buying a $70,000 car brand new, I'm not going to compromise something like the transmission choice just because my wife isn't willing/able to learn. With that much money on the table, I'm sure there's enough to get her an automatic Camry to buy groceries with.

Props for buying a CTS-V wagon, but it's just another sale that's proving to carmakers that the manual transmission is a waste of resources.

Saw a black version with dark tinted windows the other day and was in love. It had big yellow calipers and I think the wheels were different. Was that part of a package?

Regardless, looks like a blast and have fun!

And if I'm buying a $70,000 car I'm going to get what I want. Not every enthusiast wants or needs a manual transmission, especially since this is not a toy, this is my commuting daily driver. I am sorry that my choices don't live up to your expectations.

And my wife has her own car. But I want her to be able to drive this one if needed.

Dammit. One more off the used market for me.

As far as learning stick this would be the perfect car. It has enough torque to reverse the planet's rotation so all you have to do is let out the clutch and go. Oh well.

Lots o hate in here. The OP just picked up a sweet ride. Congrats are in order. The auto is faster anyway, right? I wish I had the coin to get a V, and the wife that would drive it.

Well, she'd drive it, but have no clue about the almost 600 HP under her right foot

To me, a larger, torquey V8 doesn't scream for a stick like a smaller, hih strung engine does. My CTS-V would me an auto sedan.

    Awesome buy.

You can probably put that car in 5th gear (the manual version that is) and drive from 0 to 150 mph without shifting or bogging. I think Clarkson did that with a Corvette a couple of years back.

So what's the point of buying it with a stick, then?

The way you phrased your response made it sound like you wanted a manual, but "couldn't" get one due to your wife not being able/willing to learn. If you didn't want a manual to begin with, well, then you suck just as much as she.

My commuting daily driver is a stick and I've never had a complaint. It'd be even nicer with 550+ lb-ft of torque to thump through traffic with.

Just says that the engine is so tractable that driving it in stick version is very easy compared to something with a low torque, high HP engine.

Well bully for you driving a stick every day. I don't want to do that. Amazingly enough, that's why cars come with both transmissions.

He sucks for driving a supercharged V8 beast, and you're awesome for driving a 15 y/o asthmatic econobox, simply on the basis of transmission choices?
