I'm not a fan of sweet tea, but that stuff isn't that bad^^
And to chime in on my opinion, at least on the topic of HFCS, you don't have a choice on what you can buy. I don't simply have the choice to not spend money on HFCS products, because it is subsidized through my taxes. If you were to ask every person in this nation without a vested interest in the corn industry whether they wanted HFCS to be subsidized or if they would rather let cane sugar be the norm, then I can guarantee which answer you would get 99 out of 100 times.

Its either this tea
http://www.peaceicedtea.com/
or
Turkey Hill Diet Ice Tea - what ever flavor kind they have
If its not either of those two then its just normal unsweetened ice tea.

There have been more than three studies that have found issues with Stevia.
Do you have any evidence? Was the original ban on Stevia in the US also due to conspiracy? Besides, UCLA's point about true lifetime studies in both mice and rats doesn't seem to be related to pushing sugar, does it? It's supposed to be standard procedure.UCLA's research probably funded by ADM...
Well, CSPI says trichlorosucrose ("sucralose/Splenda") is probably safe, which I disagree with since it gives me muscular twitches and it is digested and absorbed despite the false claims of its manufacturer. If CSPI, which is the main promulgator of the UCLA toxicologists' opinions was biased toward cane sugar, that would better support your argument. CSPI, though, isn't.you know so people aren't suspicious like if ADM funded the University of Iowa to do the research instead. The other I have no idea, sounds South American too, so more proponents of cane sugar.
Japan isn't as stringent as people think. For instance, rice has been polished with talc in Japan, leading to stomach cancer from asbestos in the talc. Japan is interesting, because the Japanese tend to have very high standards in many ways but can also have pretty major blind spots (like the talc and smoking).
And, as I've explained, DNA damage is not something that is easily detected necessarily—particularly outside of lab testing. DNA damage's symptoms = aging.
I would be thrilled if Stevia extracts were to be tested fully and found to be safe. I hoped trichlorosucrose would be and paid the price for excessive optimism in twitching and other symptoms. The basic problem seems to be that there just is no free lunch. There is no safe sweetener, beyond what we get from whole fruit (and not all fruits, as dates are too sugary for diabetics). I don't get twitching from Stevia, which is such an obvious and replicable symptom that I have no doubt about trichlorosucrose's questionability. But, I do feel malaise after consuming rebiana (rebaudioside A) products. I've tried the orange juice and also cookies made with Truvia.
Research has found that the body isn't fooled by high-intensity non-caloric sweeteners. It will continue to crave the calories one normally gets from sugar. This makes the consumption of these products questionable without even taking into account potential toxicity. They lead to increased caloric intake and thus weight gain, due to the body's craving reinforcement, according to some research. I don't know if this is true for all of them, rather than just some such as aspartame, but I assume it does since they're non-caloric.

amazing that people get so upset when someone points out that the majority of the food in this country is terrible for you, and heavily subsidized.

OT BREAD GTG!
I'm not upset. I know that so much of the food most people eat is awful. However the choice is up to the individual to stop buying and eating the sh*t, and buy and eat good stuff.
In my opinion, more people need to be cooking. You have so much more control over the food you eat, how its prepared, etc. And...I'm sorry if it seems crazy but...I love to cook.

^^This. He's like a yapper dog. Dog looks out the window, sees people jogging, starts barking its head off. You look out the window, see it's just people jogging, attempt to return to watching TV. Dog can't understand why you aren't also freaking the hell out that there are people jogging outside, barks louder and crazier, and bounces off your repeatedly head while you're trying to watch TV. You try to ignore it, but eventually it's so annoying that you start yelling at it to shut the **** up. Then the dog bites you. /story

Go tell a person smoking a cigarette that cigarettes are bad for them and see what happens.
Go tell a guy who crashes his car that he shouldn't have crashed his car.
People don't come to Off Topic to be told by a stranger how wrong they are in their everyday lives. Hamburgers aren't healthy, but I probably won't fall over and die of a coronary if I have one on my birthday.
Here's the difference: Some people actually HAVE considered what they're eating and they do things differently in an attempt to align themselves with a healthier lifestyle. So telling people in this "shame on you, wag of the finger" manner isn't going to garner a positive reaction.

I used to get my Rockland Bakery fix at Remsen Farms (R.I.P.) back when I was a kid. Yummy rolls.
If you can't measure it, you can't understand it; if you can't understand it, you can't control it.
