I am about to purchase a Golf MK6 GTI with DSG. My question is does it have both manually and automatic transmission which I can choose from? I've searched the net but never come up with a real answer so I am aksing you to help me along the way.
Here is a link to some info but to sum it up real quick, DSG is an Automatic with the option of telling the transmission to shift when you want. As for the quality of the DSG....many dot like it because you have less control of a manual car but it does shirt faster than a manual car. The tranny spins two gears at the same time so when it shifts, you dont feel it but you hear it.
Like he said, I it's basically a different type of automatic transmission. I personally would not buy one, I prefer having complete control of my own car.
A DSG is not n automatic transmission in the normal sense; there's no-fluid filled toque converter. It is a twin-clutch manual with electronically actuated clutches.
There is an automatic mode, and flappy paddles can be fun for shifting, but I still prefer a true manual.
I have a 6-speed 2010 GTI Autobahn 2DR that needs to go. Black on Black.
