So I was trying to adjust the load adjusting screw and air got in the system. My friend and I tried purging it and we even used a vacuum pump. I also noticed the glow plug light wasn't coming on either.

We loosened all the unions, cranked it, and nothing came out of the injector hard lines.

Then we took the plunger screw out, cranked it, and diesel shot out. Same story with the return line screw on top of the pump.

I searched and searched and nothing was any help. I wonder if the glow plug relay went bad, but as for the purging and not having and diesel come out of the injector hard lines, I'm stumped.

      Any help will be appreciated.

Sounds like it may be shut-off solenoid related

grab a multimeter and check for 12v at the solenoid when someone is trying to start the car

with 12v the hard lines should be getting fuel

if there isnt 12v, the plastic ignition switch is probably to blame. This may also be the cause of the gp light not coming on

If you didnt disconnect the battery before you worked on the car there is always a chance you may have shorted the solenoid while adjusting the fuel screws... I know I did

So I checked the cut off solenoid and took care of that problem.

Now I'm stuck on another problem. Diesel only shoots out of 2-3 valves on the injector pump.

In other words, when I crank it, diesel doesn't come out of all 4 valves on the IP. I tried swapping all the valves with each other and after trying this about 3-4 times, I only have diesel shooting out 3 valves at a time, other times only out of two valves.

The funny thing is that when I cranked it over with all the valves removed, diesel flowed freely out of all 4 ports, but with the valves back in, diesel only came out of only 2-3 ports instead of all 4.

Can it be the valves themselves?

I hope that made sense, please help!

Update: I decided to take the internals out of the two valves that weren't squirting diesel and bypassing them. The car started up perfectly. I put the internals back in, and no diesel.

I'm taking a trip to the junkyard to get "new" valves and give those a try.
