Couldn't believe what i was reading today in my local paper. The small company that is recreating all the helmets that are being used for Ron Howard's new Formula 1 movie are being made about ten miles from where i live!!
Check out the link below for the article. Some nice pictures of the helmets.
Bell helmets is located in Rantoul as well. Town of about 20,000.

If you're on Twitter, follow Ron Howard. He posts up a few pics a day of the filming. Lots of behind the scene stuff. Looks great.

The film is really shaping up to be something incredible, far beyond the likes of Grand Prix or Le Mans. I can not wait

I am pretty impressed with how much Thor looks like and acts like James Hunt. The guy they got to play Lauda bears an eerie resemblance as well.

Will Buxton on SPEED interviewed Ron Howard on the Monaco grid and I was surprised that it was Howard's first time ever on an F1 grid. Crazy considering he's making a movie on F1 - granted not really relevant to modern F1, in fact just wrapped up shooting the scenes and it's now in the editing room. He did seem supper cool and genuinely excited that there are so many racing fans that are going nuts over what he is doing.

Wow, the production quality looks top notch

I guess picking that particular era of F1 is very suitable for film making since most of the cars are powered by the Cosworth DFV. There's still a cottage industry that services the DFV so the sight and sounds can be authentic.

Looks like it's safe to say that this film won't be Stallone'd

My wife will leave footprints on my corpse to see this movie. She likes F1 but the whole THOR thing is really peaking her interest. She likes guys in racing suits! Lucky me!
