Trade for another VW? I thought you wanted something more reliable?![]()

So, I have a new addition to the family coming real soon ( Having a boy...well my wife is having a boy). I love my mk2 gli, however, I need something more reliable. Thinking about possibly trading for an mk4 gli or an mk5 gli fahrenheit edition. I have a small loan on the car so it would be easier to trade in at a dealer.

Congratulations on the new addition to the family. I know how you feel, I had to get rid of my Mk1 cabby for a wagon when my first one came along. I wish you good luck and happy hunting.

a dealer isn't going to give you s**t on a mk2, maybe like $800. you're FAR better off selling it outright & taking that money to a dealer for a down payment.

that's your only choice right now man, no dealer is going to give you more than $800 for that car, & they probably wouldn't even take it in trade anyway, you owe more than twice what it's worthmy advice is to just keep it. make bigger payments if you can, pay it off soon, but just enjoy the fact that you have only $60/mo payments & cheap ass insurance! if you trade up to a mk4 or mk5, your payments & insurance will be like 4-5x that much! and mk2's last forever. just keep it, do maintenance, & save the $ for baby stuff...you'll need it!!
oh, & congrats!
i have tons of mk2 & 16v parts, so keeping that thing on the road won't be hard.

if you have a buyer paying cash, you take them to your bank with you, they hand to money over and the bank will sign them the title. easy as pie. i just sold a vehicle under the same conditions 2 months ago.
Sell ME your CAR!!! lol im serious.

Really? Ill talk to my bank today after work. Its USAA so they dont have any real branch locations. It mainly online. They might be able to let you pay through a certifed check and Ill have to have them sign the title to you. Its confusing me as I type this haha. If you are serious about buying it, Ill sell it to you. I just gotta figure out how it will work with my bank.
