      Hi all,

Recently purchased a 2001 white cabby for my daughter....105K miles, but it's in great shape minus a few small issues. One of them that is driving me crazy is the glove box door. The lock works fine, but when unlocked it still won't open. Something is broken behind the lock that is preventing it from opening. The left side appears to be free, but the right side is stuck. I have tried to gently pry but with no success. My patience is running thin and last night I almost just tried to rip the lock off......but I was able to compose myself.

Has anyone had any experience with Cabrio glove box's that they could share?

      Thx
      Ed

From what I know, the glove box is removable from under the dash.
Once it has been dropped down, you can see the lock pins and get the box open.

The lock on my 99 was busted....was able to get an entire glove box from a jy car.

The actual lock pins go from the center out to each side. pulling the handle, moves a rotary device that pulls each pin to center, to release the latches.

I'll see if I can post some pics of the lock mechanism.

The glove box needs to be opened to remove it there are three screws inside that hold it up.
You should be able to open it by sliding a screwdriver into the lower slot where the handle is and pushing it to the right.
The handles on MK3 gloveboxes fail all the time best way to replace them is to get a new glovebox from the junkyard.
