Been looking for something with **** gas mileage for the lady to drive to work and me to take the dog to the river and my bike to the trails.

Happened across a 2 owner, '95 Isuzu Trooper. Even in this, it's gussied up state its still one hell of a capable tank. Now to just quiet these damn lifters/rocker arms down.

    Nice

I've always been a fan of the 2 door version myself.

I've never seen a 2-door 2nd Gen here. I tried to buy a couple different gen 1 montero/raider 2 doors but they sold lightning fast.

This kinda fell into my lap. 2 owner, well maintained bought for $1900.

Isuzu had recommended running 0w-30 to help that.

But this isnt a sticky lifter situation, its wear on the rocker arm i guess thats causing the noise.

Few people have had good luck running seafoam in the oil for 100 or so miles then changing the oil to help clean to oil passages up. Worth a shot.

I live in a moderate temperature zone so im not going to worry about a 0w-30 until late August.

So in todays news. Yesterday the old lady rear ended some Rav4 in the trooper. Tiny bit of a dent in the hood. Back door of the RAV4 is toast along with the rear window.

I have to admit that I thought you bought a diesel suv by reading the thread title.

Either way cool purchase those things are tanks!

I had a 97. Lifter noise is definitely common. Harmless from what I hear. My dad now has the 97' with about 260k miles on it.... original motor.

Steerings a bit loose, and it's a bit thirsty for gas but for the most part it's a great drive. Quiet at speed and stable.
