Well, call me disappointed. Just got back from seeing it and should have waited until Red Box. No, it isn't terrible. Without any frame of reference to the first film, you might even say it was pretty good. I could not shake set comparisons to Blade Runner, Fifth Element, and Minority Report however. Can't Hollywood come up with an original looking dystopia anymore, never mind a fresh story?

As much as I've grieved Schwarzenegger's acting over the years, I missed him as Quaid. Beckinsale does a good job combining Sharon Stone's role with Michael Ironside's however, she ain't no Micheal Ironside. There were reasonable actors in this film but they were disappointing. I lay that at the feet of the director. Wiseman is competent, he just isn't (yet) at the level that Verhoeven was when he did Robocop, 5 years before he directed Total Recall.

Meh. Got boring after the 2nd act. So many plot holes I could land a 747

Kate Beckinsale was so hot as a baddie tho, and looked good in every scene. The rest was meh.

Just rented this on demand Saturday night.

Meh, original was better. I kept waiting for them to get to Mars, didn't know it wasn't part of this movie as I did not read any spoilers. No aliens, no pyramids, no nothing.

I saw it on an airplane right before Christmas. It's horrible but I'm going to buy the Blu Ray simply to gawk at Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel.

It wasn't horrible, but it was missing some levity; the original wasn't so grim.
A hundred dollars on your hair, fifty on your nails, fifty on make-up, two hundred dollars for an outfit. You ladies spend four hundred dollars to bring home a thug that ain't worth ten cents!

I saw it on an airplane as well, since i couldn't sleep. It is basically a B-movie at best and doesn't even touch the spirit of the 1989 movie. Basically it's what I've come to expect from Len Wiseman, the director, on a consistent basis.

Man - Beckinsale and Biel are quite the pairing.
