My son is fascinated with the dirt jump scene. He mostly rides park. I cobbled together a quasi DJ bike using a small Trek 3900 frame.

I put a marzocci DJ1 fork, and kenda micro knobby tires.

And some avid elixr 1 rear hydraulic disc brakes (new rear disc compatible wheel)

    Surly singulator rear chain set

    And race face crank.

The only original items are the frame, bar, stem, and front wheel.

I have an octane 1 3.0 void frame, octane1 chemical bar, and Sunline v1 DH stem on order. Any ideas for light, strong rims? That seems to be the last bit.

Good call replacing the Trek frame, it's only a matter of time until in breaks. The Octane One is a really nice frame, especially for the price.

Here's mine after installing some NS bars:

As for wheels, if you're not set on a single speed specific hub, Azonic Outlaws are a good, solid choice that isn't too heavy or expensive. You'll need a 12mm - 10mm stepdown axle, but the wheels are great.

Here is my DK. I used to ride a small frame (XS) Giant XTC1. It was cool, but sucked at the same time. The small frame means small wheel base. I was always hitting my feet on the front wheel!

Octane one frame, bars, integrated headset, and seat post.

    Brave brave stem.

    Odyssey pact bmx chain tensioner

    Token double lock on grips.

    Pics to follow.

    Eta total around $425.

Total for the build, all inclusive: $1015???

    Not too bad.
