Thread: New brakes, but parking brake issue??

  1. 04-03-2012 10:43 AM #1
Replaced all rotors, pads, sensors and hardware for my 05 v6 Touareg at 97k miles

Eliminated the front noise and vibration, adjusted rear parking brake as recommended on manual but the parking brake pedal feels loose and a noise is coming from the rear brakes.

The brake shoe is touching the rotor and cannot get the adjustment, took rotors and readjusted but moving the rotor until there is no sound but once in use and parking brake is on use the noise comes back.

    Any ideas??

    Thank you

Finally got parking brake fix, cleaned and removed all break dust and rust.
Lubricated the moving parts, took the rotor and adjusted the parking brake several times until there was no more friction. Had to center the break shoe.

Had to replace the front Hawk HPS Pads, the noise squeal was very bad. Call Hawk support and did as recommended, sanded pads and rotor. Did not help.

Ordered Bosch quiet cast and did the bedding process as recommended and what a difference, no noise at all and great breaking power for half the price of the Hawk pads.

I had use the brake pads and rotors from Alretta, it is one of the best solution for the Touareg and at a good price, good pads and less break dust. After 55k miles I really need it to replace the rotors and went for a different solution with Adam Rotors.
