After being out of the VW environment for some time I had to put in my 2 cents. Even though I have not posted anything on these forums, I have had vast experience with large and small companies in the aftermarket scene. Recently bought a 2 door RB Golf R after having owned a 1995 GTI VR6 and by 1998 had a full Projektzwo body kit, EIP turbo with 450hp, Eurospec 6 speed trans and 3.6 kit. Full H&R Coilover
..Etc
(You get the Idea
.)
After this car I graduated as a Computer Engineer and have had a 2005 Lambo Gallardo, 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 2009 Lotus Exige S and Wife Mazda CX-9 and daughter 17, a 2008 GTI with APR stage 1. (She loves it)
After driving those cars, my heart and soul goes back to the fun I had with the 1995 GTI VR6. Hence the buy of the new Golf R.
EIP went bankrupt and other companies have not had the great success theyve had in the past. (Neuspeed, Autotech Tuning, RPI Equipped
.Etc.) They are still around but not with the full force they had before.
For me the new power source in the US is APR. The fact that they are trying to bring in parts that they do not produce and out of country its hard to manage in a large scale, because you really rely on the production. I know they already placed the largest order to VWR and I imagine VWR is exhausted trying to produce the products to the same standard rather than cut corners to make it available.
Personally I do not buy a part at a time since I hate spending a little for a little gain.
I wait and research multiple companies and then go all out. Thinking going with APR, HPA, KW, VWR and maybe Eurospec with a 2.2 liter turbo FSI custom made
just brain storming here)
If you really want an intake comparable to the VWR, go with a wintake or twintake from Forge. But do not bash a company that is a distributor for just posting that they have the product online and ran out. First rule of a distributor is to not buy 100s of equipment parts until you do a market research and see how the few that you ordered sell.
I think the problem is not APR but VWR. If I were VWR and I am entering a completely different and new market and have an exclusivity to distribute my products through APR, then I would make sure that most of my stock from one of my warehouses in the UK will be shipped to APR for distribution in the new market.
You all waited months for your Golf R and some are making senseless comment after comment for just a part?
lol
.That tells me that if you install the part you will whine also because it does not have the advertised HP when you dyno it.
Please educate yourself since there are a lot of factors involved for a distributor to make a specific part even worst to make a complete collection available from overseas.
I am ok with 1 or even 2 negative comments but what in the world do you want Arin to do after his explanations
..give you the part for free?
STOP
.STOP you made me write this after reading these posts for several years and never posting anything
..
