VWR intake replaces the carbonio cold air intake? A better performance? it's double the price. Sorry I am learning about this kind of stuffs.

The existing carbonio intake for the R attaches to the factory engine cover so it still has some restrictions. This intake removes the engine cover and gives you a full intake right to the turbo. It's a straight path and will make more power than the carbonio.
Now, if you want to keep your engine cover the way it is, you'll need to go with the Carbonio but if you don't mind removing it, the VWR is for you.

Then how about pointing me to one of your partnered dealers where I can get an intake in a reasonable time frame? I've already inquired at my local dealer, BFI, and they are not expecting any intakes for 2-3 weeks.
It's ridiculous to announce availability on an item that is out of stock without a warning to your customers before they order. I'm a wholesale manager for a parts supply company and this would never fly here.

VWRPJ002
The intake system is, VWRPJ012, and is a full intake. The filter part number listed above is just a panel filter that gets placed in your OEM air box, which is apart of the OEM engine cover. It's not the same at all.And if one was to buy the intake system is it the same filter and can you buy the system without the filter (see where I'm going there!)

I just spoke with sales and they let me know all of the intakes are in customers hands at this point.
Stuff sells out. I can't control that unless I raise the price and even then it will probably still just sell out quickly. Sorry man! It's ridiculous to announce availability on an item that is out of stock without a warning to your customers before they order. I think I might have read over this but just in curiosity. Will a dealership give you crap for running VWR parts on their car?

Hi there! Glad to see you could join us. Clearly if you had been e-mailing APR every week and since late January and hearing "they should be around in 2-3 weeks" like the rest of us, you'd think differently.
To find the intake finally "released" and then immediately sold out is grounds for a little frustration.
I still fail to see why it's so hard to simply put a "call for availability" somewhere on the order page, but okay.

Nah, I was just curious in general. I worked at VW dealership that was very mod friendly. We actually serviced a number of APR's modded vehicles.Well the owner of those cars no longer with works for APR but thats another story. Only time we had issues was with someone with a modded mk5 was he had full coilovers, whiteline control arm bushings, and upgraded engine/tranny mounts and bitched about subframe clunking. We helped him get upgraded bolts and installed them at reduced hourly rate. He was a puts and still bitched.
My point is some dealership I know of are very stickler about mods. Like VW-Subaru LEE in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Just a pain of a dealership to deal with all around.

I don't have a PDF for this but I'll ask for some.
So how do we fix the problem? Make more? Do you think VWR is dragging their feet? Sorry bro! Sometimes thing sell out! It's the nature of the beast and also, had we NOT released the info, everyone would be screaming at us to release the information. lol, any way you look at it, I can't win.

Look, you make great products and we all know it. All we're asking for is that the customer service be of the same quality. A little bit of up front honesty is all that is necessary here. Now your manager has told me that no dealer stocking orders were placed. He claims that all orders for the intake were for customer cars. Who ordered them then? Because I got my order in 10 minutes after they were announced and they were already sold out. And it seems no one else here on VW Vortex is getting one. So where did they all go? It sounds like you never even had any of them in stock. If that's the case why are you announcing a product as available when it simply hasn't arrived yet? All that was necessary would have been an "available soon, contact for details."
When you're told 2 weeks at the end of January and your car has been Stage 1+ tuned since then with APR products and software WAITING for the "imminent intake release", having it pushed back to the end of April (according to the most recent estimate) is a damn long time. Sorry if some of you consider that being entitled. I don't see it that way.

Is there an ETA on the backorders?
I am interested in this intake, I don't mind waiting if it's a quality piece.

I fully understand jsausley's frustration. When by the end of January APR announced the VWR Intake
I called APR headquarters right away and was told they will be avalable in 10days to 2 weeks!
I waited and waited and after 6 weeks gave up and ordered a WINtake with a Scorpion DP from
Forge and must say I am very happy with the result.

It isn't APR's fault that they were all sold but it is APR's fault that they told customers the item was available and then came back the next day with, "Nope, sorry, backordered. Just kidding bros!"
Anyway, just got off the phone with Evan the sales manager and he told me that no intakes were sold for dealer stock or customer cars and were all sent out as promotional pieces to dealers. That's the sort of information that I was looking for yesterday when this whole thing started but apparently Arin didn't want to tell us that.

May be a stupid ? but the engine states its a TSI but seems people are buying the FSI intakes? Can you please explain which models will fit the Golf R? Thanks for the help.![]()

Hold on, back it up, back it up, BEEP BEEP BEEP
We don't have good customer service?
I'm ready to vomit considering I was up till 12 last night posting on the forums about this stuff! I know my sales people and other employees have the same level of commitment as me (well, maybe not quite that late but I know they care).
Look, we don't have any intakes left. They are gone. They are in australia, china, some customers hands in the US, dealers, my car, other project cars, the point is they are gone and we are waiting on more.
If this angers you, I'm sorry. We do NOT charge your CC until the item ships. If you would like, just say so and I'll ask sales to cancel your order. I know others on the list want it so it's not a big deal. If you can't wait, and you feel we were not upfront about inventory, then like I said, let me know, order will be canceled and then you can either go somewhere else or periodically check back to see if we have any in stock.
The information you were told was when everything would be released. It took me weeks to prepare this information. I would tell them it would be ready in a few days and then something would come up that would prevent the launch (ie, I planned to launch it last tuesday but I knew I would not have internet while at the race track all week, so I delayed the launch so I could stay up all night answering peoples questions).
This is impossible. The first leaked information about the intake systems was at our distributor conference on the last week of February.
I have this strange feeling some people seem to think we don't want to sell these products. Does anyone here feel we're hoarding the intakes in a secret location or something?
Do people understand production lead times? This stuff happens when demand suddenly goes from a low amount in limited markets to massive amounts in huge markets.
Just gotta hold out. As soon as we have them in, we'll start shipping. Just an FYI, we're not one of those companies that doesn't keep inventory. Draw any seven digits on a piece of paper and that's how much inventory we have on hand at any one time. Unfortunately, this just isn't one of those items, because everyone wanted it and now it's gone till more are produced.
The Golf R is the older first generation direct injected engine, an FSI as it was dubbed. VW decided to write TSI on the engine cover. Audi chose to write TFSI on both the old and new and even newer engine.
Anyways, It's the older engine... the FSI.

how much is it in total if there is shipping or should we order it with a local dealer to avoid shipping.

wow.... you guys all need to take a chill pill. People be acting like APR be advertising H1N1 flu vaccines and then chumping you all resulting in death.
There are other options if you REALLLY can't live without the VWR intake... i'm just happy that we have a distributor of these products.

APR makes a great product and in this case or selling a product the didnt make. They are the middleman here. I understand the want and the need for a great product and can not wait until I get my hands on one. Will go great with the exhaust and other plans I have for the car. If I have to wait another few weeks for them I will. From past experience it will be worth the wait!![]()

I have the same feelings as jsausley.
Neither of us think APR is hoarding intakes.
But I do think the APR website (and you here Arin) should have been more forthcoming with availability estimates.
Right now on the APR website I can order the VWR intake. No where does it indicate backorder status. That is information that people would like to know PRIOR to ordering.
This is what I, and I think jsausley, are upset about... not that we have to wait. But that APR is still selling VWR intakes w/o a backorder disclaimer.
I have already requested my order be canceled... not sure I'll be back.
APR makes a good product. But this left a sour taste in my mouth.

Let me invest a million dollars into a new accounting system that will make real time updates for back order status on the website so people don't have to be startled by an email that say "The intake is on backorder, your CC is not charged till the item ships, you can cancel at any time, sorry we made you type in a few things. Sorry!".
Wait.... Already did. Implementing now. May take a couple months before it's live.
Should we also work on a system that interrupts you when you're filling in shipping/payment information if someone orders the last one before you do? I'm just trying to enhance the buying experience here.
Hopefully someone can see the humor in this.
