I've found that kbb.com typically gives the highest appraisal values. Edmunds and NADA.com usually are a bit lower.
I'm seriously in the market for an '08 R32, but after extensive research I cannot bring myself to offering anything above 22K, even for a low mileage, mint condition one from a private party seller. I've heard stories of the 2012 R's going out the door fairly cheaply (close to 30K), even though they're stickered much higher (limited appeal; I know that they're very different). I'd highly recommend taking the 23.5K if you don't get any other offers before you have to move.
Besides, you'd have to ship it back east for me anyway!

Asking what you think it's worth is never crazy, and I do hope you get it. Here in NY, buying from a dealer gives one certain short term warranties that one doesn't get from private party sales (usually "as-is"). The costs of these are included in the "Dealer Retail" price. One wouldn't normally pay that price in a private party sale, unless the buyer is either really motivated, or uneducated. I would guess that an internet transaction would tend to favor bringing motivated buyers over uneducated ones.
As an aside, in the few days that I've been seriously researching buying, I've seen many dealers here in the east significantly drop their asking price, typically by about 3K. I'm hoping that they're getting a bit more realistic. They probably won't deal as much as when they ask crazy high prices, but I tend to favor dealing from a more realistic starting point. It makes for less hassle in the negotiating.
Good luck to both of us! Can't wait to become a Mk V R32 owner!
Car's going to be up for sale for another week or so, but then I need to start thinking about arranging for it to be shipped to NJ so I can have it when I move the second week in August. Will accept any reasonable offers guys n gals...
I can't believe that you haven't gotten many reasonable offers for such a mint low milage R.. except those generous 15K and 19K offers. I would love to take this off your hands for the 23-24K that you're asking but I'm just getting started on a new job after 6 months of unemployment, so I don't have too much extra cash on hand at the moment. I would also have to sell my MKIV R32 first which I can't get accomplished in the week you have before you have to move. So that isn't very much help to you, but good luck with the sale man.. looks like its a really nice R.
