Well the car is painted with the cheap paint to check on the defects and give me time to fix some stuff and do the interior. Final paint in 5-6 weeks. I'm ****ing excited.

I have both OEM headlights and tail lights sitting at home. I will install them once it's painted the final color so I don't scratch them (brand new). I also need the bulb holders for the 2001 tail lights. Also the paint scheme will be different. The new part of the rear bumper will be painted black and it will have a mesh behind and also the front splitter. The wheels will also be painted titanium grey together with the audi rings and mirrors.

Once the oem headlights and tails go on it'll look great. Even now it looks pretty good![]()

First I need to save for the interior and maybe later I'll try to find some more aggressive wheels because in Europe they are very very expensive with the Euro and stuff.

Throw an Audi engineer down a hole with a ladder and he will fashion a shovel from it and tunnel his way out

im pretty sure that if audi was still running a production rally car with homologation rules when they made the b5, this is what it would have looked like.
Sold my Audi and now i'm building a time attack car out of a wagon, but you can still come make fun of my car with everyone else.

What is the plan for the roof? I understand that this is not your final paint, but if you're just looking for defects in the glossy paint, why not do the roof too.
I think that the front bumper would actually look better if you lost the small lip you have on the bottom. Either way, great work.

That looks very good and very clean and isnt the typical RS4 wide body.
I didnt read many posts, but how wide did you go front and rear?

i think i could help you out with bulb holders for the 01 tail lights

Thanks everybody for the nice comments and kind words. Really appreciated.
Actually the car was rushed to get out of the shop so I could joy ride it on my birthday that's why the roof didn't get painted. Also I think the splitter on the front bumper will look completely different once it's painted black.
Thanks man. The rear got widened 30mm on each side and the front 25mm on each side.
Hopefully soon we'll be able to see it with the OEM tails![]()

What side skirts did u start with?
What rear lip on the bumper is that?
What did u do to the front bumper?
Im trying to see what you did?
#61
We started with no side skirts at all. We made the mold with sheet metal and made the skirts out of fiberglass. The front bumper is totally custom. The small insert is made out of scratch with no mold at all. And the front bumper is a kerscher that has been modified. One of the side slits has been closed off, the outer grill openings were cut into one and the whole bumper has been shortened 2cm so I can lower the car 1 more cm in the front.

What does it take to do all this? Is it something i could learn in my garage? I want to do a wide body but i have unique ideas and i dont think a shop would handle it and i also dont want to pay for them to handle it.
#64
A quality widebody project is not an easy task by any means. Without the help of a professional I would highly recommend not taking it on. My conversion has taken the better part of 9 months and we are just now about to paint. My car has experienced unimaginable things in these months that could mentally scar a B5er. My advise would be to find someone experienced in body work and custom fabrication to help you with this project. Good luck![]()

You couldn't have put it in better words. My wide body has been going on for a year and if my friend didn't have his skills I wouldn't have tried it myself. You need metal fabing skills, welding skills, fiberglass skills, bodywork skills and you have to know how to sand and paint. It's an extensive amount of work that needs to be done and you need to have somebody that knows all of these so they can tackle this project. You need to do creative thinking in different moments and be prepared for surprises. Let me just mention the gas tank door. It wouldn't work with the stock hinge. The door would hit against the body so my friend went out to local junk yards and got a fiat bravo hinge and made that work. Welding on the side of the gas tank requires extreme care as well because you never know what might happen. If you see sparks fly in there while cutting the metal or welding be prepared to run and let the car burn and explode. So you need to be prepared mentally that you might **** everything up as well.

The new oem tails
Now all I need is those plastic covers for the bottom of the tail lights.

A little update. Today me and my buddy made a double din opening for my new head unit and relocated the climate controls. It's not finished yet. The parts still need to be painted and some small details fixed.

that's awesome! I wanted to do something like that but didn't think I'd be able to make it look/work right. I thought about relocating the top buttons especially since I don't have heated seats or fogs. kinda wish I did that. and I think the front lip would look better black
