Looks a lot like an Audi to me.

The newest Impala from the NY Car Show. What do you think? Its no Secret Maximum Bob Lutz was a big fan of the Phaeton, even mentioning that as the inspiration for some of the Malibu redesign.
But this one does seem to borrow the Phaeton body lines and stance very well

Your eyes are deceiving you, maybe too much of the old Jack Daniels![]()

It does look like everyone's adding the integrated exhaust-in-the-bumper thing now.
The Impala would look a lot better if it didn't have that extra little window at the back, but instead had a bigger c-pillar like our cars do.

I don't see much of the Phaeton in there, but definitely a VW/Audi cross in the front. Although the Passat, Jetta, Eos, Golf, and CC all look nearly the same in the front now...![]()

Aha! It is all becoming clear...
I just got Twittered this promo video for the 2014 Impala. I guess the ad agency stalks Vortex Phaeton threads
-- Motorised gadgets in the console
-- Full beige leather
-- Harking back to the full-size days of 1967
-- Chinese driver shown in the promo video
-- Idealised Chinese city backdrop
-- Brand image that most people outside USA think of as good value but still a car for the masses
Sound like a familiar brand lift strategy? Where did they get that idea?
