i took the little black caps off the top of the bushings and there is a hlaf inch gap between the body and the cup washer . is this correct ?

I thought not and replaced the bushing... so now there is a quarter inch gag. i replaced it with one of the green ones.
is this normal or did i do something wrong ? if you think a pic will help i iwll post one .. can someone check there car for me please of let me know what is normal ?

    Thanks

it is very common, it is one of the weak points of the suspension, even replacing them they fail pretty quickly. There are aftermarket place that make upgraded ones, there are also other companies that make soild top mounts for it, and then there is another company(person) who makes a reinforcement ring for the stock strut mounts ("mount savers"), these are basically the options.
