    Good news!

Chevy Volt sales surge as car remains political piñata | TG Daily

In early March GM suspended production of the Volt, idling some 1,300 workers. The company said then that it would bring back the workers and restart production late this month after it worked "to build market demand."

Whether it was just good luck, good weather or something mysterious that GM did, it looks like that demand might finally be showing up.

The Volt sales figure of 2,289 was 50 percent higher than the car's previous best month, December 2011, when 1,529 cars were sold. After falling to just 603 in January this year - amid talk of Volt battery fires - sales climbed to 1,023 in February before more than doubling in March.

$299 lease special. No magic, no politics, no other crap. Great car, cheap lease. Moves them every time.

We sold more Volts at Chevy last month than any other model.

Sorry but the only people who treat this car as a political piñata are overextending themselves on Rams and firearms. I know this because I spent hours at the gun shop today with my infant and bought a Smith & Wesson.

I just saw a commercial for a news broadcast (crap, forgot the channel) and it showed a Volt next to a prius. On top of each, it showed a battery slowly being emptied. After the volts battery got empty, it completly stopped, while the prius kept on with out emptying the battery. Pretty amazing how stupidly they are trying to shove the Volt down, and how people actually believe it all.

Anyways, I saw my first Volt the other day, pretty nice looking car.

    ALRIGHT! Finally good new!

I was getting a little worried considering I was seeing the same three Volts at my local dealer. Other day, I saw three brand new Volts in place of the older ones. Things are looking up

Chevy sold 105 units if my CRM is correct, and 1/3 were Volts.

I think you misunderstand. Neither does the government after its sold. That said, at least they get the cash from the sale and property tax. That will help us all out because the deficit REALLY needs it. So, in the end, its a return on everyone's investment.

Sell baby sell, but please don't mandate that I buy one anymore than I already have!

I create sustainable jobs everyday - you should see the research and development facilities we fund on base. I'm certain the contractors and scientists we hire would consider their jobs "sustainable"......I certainly consider mine to be lol. Sure, our products don't generate dollars.....but they sure generate security.

I hate when people spout off these cookie cutter BS lines - I realize it's vogue to come off as a libertarian "independent" thinker these day, but everything the government is involved with does not automatically turn to sh*t (contrary to what you want to believe).

So they are unsustainable on their own.

The battery's still have to be disposed of eventually which do alot of harm to the environment. So I still sand with my opinion TDI > all, pour some biodiesel in and everyones happy.

Hilarious to me that the far-right leaning segments of this country want to paint a picture of the Volt as the end-result failure of government investment in GM while simultaneously defending, tooth and nail, things like the oil company tax subsidies which are, at their root, essentially the same thing:

Government revenue loss in the name of supporting corporations. Pick and choose, pick and choose...

You are aware that the batteries are recycled, yes?

Yet you only have vitriolic words to post in this thread for GM, even though both GM and VW have accepted large sums of government money.

It is the same. Since you think otherwise, perhaps you could explain the difference?

These are the comments that JP is trying to get you to back up. You keep running away with the "put me in the box" BS to avoid the argument. Yes, we know you don't want a hybrid. Neither do I. Defend your comments or admit they were BS.

Wait, you honestly haven't heard that batteries can be (and ARE) recycled?

Study after study have been posted here showing that EVs do less harm over their lifetime than internal combustion cars. This idea that batteries are some kind of environmental disaster is a canard.

Next you're going to start talking about Sudbury Ontario...

Sorry this is what i meant to say the actual process to make the batteries is very harmful for the enviroment, although some batteries arent recyclable.

Again, studies have been posted here in TCL showing that the lifetime environmental impact of a car with lots of batteries, like the Volt, is lower, even though the impact of building them is greater. This simply isn't a real concern.

Also, which batteries used in hybrids or plug-in-hybrids aren't recyclable?

Good to hear. Definitely looking forward to the 2nd gen of that car so I'm really hoping the sales will justify one.

Semi-related ; I prefer paying a part of someone's EV than having to pay for the brodozers of everyone with a bs commercial license up here.

Pointing out an apparent hypocrisy is not "putting you in a box." If you want to post nonsense hypocritical ideas without having to discuss them, start a blog. This is a discussion forum, so it makes no sense to get all huffy and act like you're being victimized when people respond to you.
