15 and 20 mm spacers, go to www.42draftdesigns.com for spacers/extended lugs and you shouldn't have any problem finding everything you need.

It's also an R and they can run way lower offsets due to the IRS. Those offsets would be way too low for a mkiv with a solid rear beam

Hi all, I'm new here. There is a ton of useful information here, thanks! I'm sure it's been brought up somewhere here, but I haven't found it, so...
I have a 2000 MKIV Jetta. It's suspension is stock, and it's on the factory 15" steel wheels with a set of 195/65-15 tires that would make Mr. Bridgestone cry. A lot. It's my work car, and it wasn't taken care of before I bought it. That being said, it doesn't have to look like a complete turd. It's got 165,000 on it, so I don't want to put a TON of money into aesthetics, but if I'm going to get tires, I might as well try to sneak a decent set of wheels past my wife... I'd like get away with something that doesn't require spacers if I can (work car budget).
A Craigslist search has located a few sets for $300-$350. The first is a set of SRT4 rims for $100. I know, blasphemy. I'm not a purist, and I've seen a couple of VWs on them that didn't look too bad. The first rim is
17x6" with an offset of 45 compared to 35 stock
I'm figuring 224/45-17 should move me inboard toward the strut an inch. I think that may be too much, but thought I'd ask you folks.
The second is a set of
xxr? 502 18x8.5 with an offset of 35
With a set of 90% tread 235/40-18 for $350 obo.
I havent done the math on this set, but I'm betting the stock offset isn't going to help me enough to get past needing spacers.
Any decent looking wheels from other makes that swap onto a Jetta easily?
Thanks in advance.
Zach

I've got 18x8.5 et48 wheels with 205/35 tires I'm putting on my gti. The bolt pattern is 5x120. What size adaptor is best? I've found 15mm, 16mm, 1", 1.25", 1.5", and 2" adaptors. And the hub bore on the wheels is 74.1

since youre on stock suspension, most wheels will fit just fine on your car. be sure theyre 5x100 so you don't need to spend an extra few hundred on adapters though. the issue of rubbing comes into play when cars are lowered and the adjustable collars sit low enough on the strut body to possibly rub the inside of a high offset (35+ in most cases) wheel
so basically, you'll be fine with anything 5x100 with an offset 45 or lower![]()

Raderwerks MTEN-80's
18x8F (et35) with a 215/40/18
18x9R (et35) with a 225/40/18
i already have 8mm spacers in front and like how it looks, but i'm up in air about the rear. Right now i have a 20mm spacer in back but i don't like the amount of poke...stuck between a 15mm and 12mm. I want to be able to go lower (maybe half an inch of wheel gap) without rubbing terribly and destroying my tires after 20 miles. pics for reference would helpThanks!

9et15 is a good amount of poke to run with 225/40 tires, i'd honestly go with no spacer or a 5-10mm in the rear. don't bother trying the 15 cus you won't gain much.
the rear wheel shown in THIS Post would be what you'd get with a 10mm spacer. hell, maybe just mount em up with no spacers at all to go along with the little bit of tuck or flush that your front wheels have![]()

i orderd a set off ccw's classics for my mk4 r32. im still waiting for the wheels to made and shipped. Since im still waiting, im trying to decide the right tire size. I was told to run a 225/40 on the rear and 215/40 in the front.
SPECS.
front 18x8.5 et 25
rear 18x10 et 19
im thinking about running 215/40 in the rear because i dont want to run a -3 camber. i like the straight kind of poke on the rear, not to much camber.!So if I go with a 215/40, I wont need to go with a -3 camber? I was guessing with a 215/40, i wouldnt have to go withthat much camber because it gives me more clearence. Am i on the right track, if not, please correct me, and help me. I'm just trying to double check if I got the right idea or not.
#163
you could go either way really. gonna have a good amount of uneven stretch with the 215 which always bothers me. I know pat ran 215/40 on his 18x10 et 13 (picure in this thread somewhere)
#164
will a 215/40 help by not having to camber -3, since 215/40 stretches a little more than a 225/40.
#165
I don't think you'll need to max out the camber with that offset no. I don't really have any experience with R32s though
#166
This kid Aaron ran a -3 camber with 18x10et18, with a 225/40 tire. so i was thinking if i go with a 215/40, i wont need to go with a -3 camber because 215/40 will give me more clearence.
#167
best bet would be to PM him about it honestly. I love his car

I have some BMW wheels I'm putting on my gti. 18x8.5et48. The hub bore is 74.1 and I'm putting 215/40 falken 912's on them. The wheels are 5x120 and need to fit to 5x100. Which adaptor size is best? I've found 15mm, 16mm, 1 inch, 1.25 inch, 1.5 inch, and 2 inch. I'm thinking 1.25 is the closest the being flush, but want to be sure. Or would it be better to go with a smaller adaptor with a spacers also?
