WTB: MK3 2.0 Automatic

This is not for me!
A friend of mine wants to get into the VW world.
He needs a reliable Family car. He can not drive a stick.
Ideally he would like a MK3 or MK4 Jetta 2.0 Automatic. Little or no mods is OK. It needs to run well and the tranny can not be blownup. He would be interested in a golf or passat also, if it is in his price range. He has $2500.00 to spend.
If anyone has an older car that is sitting and taking up space, LMK.
