I did notice I was missing one of these

    .

Anybody have one of these clips laying around? It's the one that holds the electrical connection together on the injectors. I dropped one and can't find it.

Well, last night we tried to do a remote flash. Unfortunately we couldnt get it to work. So I ended up having to take it out the ECU and ship it to him. That was a pain in the ass. Hopefully Gonzo will get it turned around quickly. I need this car to be running by next week.

Ecu is tuned! Sent it out next day, and already on its way back.

Haha. Got home late and had to make dinner. Got it all together after dinner and realized the new pump isn't turning on. Jumped it with a wire from the battery to confirm that it works. Gonna have to check the wiring. The only part of this install I didn't do myself. Not pointing fingers though. Good to have a hand with projects. This just means one more day of not having a car. Yet one more speed bump. It's all good. Comes with the territory.

Well, this is taking a little longer than I had initially planned. For some reason I'm not getting power to the Bosch pump like I should. I can't seem to find an orientation of the fuses that gets me power to both pumps. Not sure what exactly is going on. I'm hoping to have it cranked over today/tonight.

Finally got it all working. I'm getting a code though. 17949 "fuel relay open circuit." I'm guessing its the stock oe relay under the dash.

Turns out the relay got toasted somehow during install. I replaced it and now it primes for a few seconds like it should. Before it ran nonstop with the key in the "on" position. I'm putting in some time driving it for the ecu to get used to the new fueling. I can already say, it has more power than it ever has. I'm in the middle of trying to connect uni so I can bump up my idle. Currently I'm just running the stgIII file. I haven't even touched E85 yet. Gonna get it right before I do that.

Looks like things are settling down with the ECU. Ive got the Unos controlling boost right now. Its set to 19psi, and holds it till redline. Im going to slowly turn it up to 22-23 with pump. Who knows what kinda pressure Ill run once I run the E85 file. All in all, its running great. Still a little jumpy, but getting smoother the more I drive it.

Update: Car is running great! Running 20psi and holding it to red line. Tomorrow I'm turning it up a little more. Once I get through this half tank of 93 I'm going to fill with some E85

Well guys, I got my issues straightened out. Turns out my replacement fuel pump relay was not the same as the old one. It was causing shorts to ground on all my injectors and my hall sender. I put the old one back in, and it started right up. All codes went away. Now I need to log some miles on it for the ECU to get used to the new fueling. Then I can fill with my first tank of E85

Got a new file loaded from Gonzo. Only took 5 minutes to load. Pretty cool considering he was doing it remotely from his phone.

Did some more of this yesterday.

Idle is smooth as butter right now. Had to look at the tach to see if the engine was on at a light. I also found the source of a noise I was hearing. Turns out the inlet of my catch can is leaking. Since the outlet is routed back to my TIP I guess it's a vac leak.

    Update:
For the past two weeks we've been dialing things in. I'm now using N75 and no MBC. It's very smooth. I'm spiking 23-24 and holding it till redline. The car feels great. Turns out the actuator on the F23 was at 9psi (supposed to be 12). I knocked it down to where it should be, and now it seems to be breathing MUCH better. I'm finding myself having longer sustained boost through the revs. Right now were still getting the fuel trims dialed before I fill with 85. Can't wait!

Still getting things dialed. Were pushing around 27psi with some extra spring tension. Im still adjusting the preload on the actuator to get it exactly where I want it. Its amazing how smooth boost is with it adjusted correctly. We should be ready to put the first tank of 85 in next week. Im hoping I can get a smooth Idle with 85. Im hearing that sometimes it takes more than 1 crank to start on an 85 tune. Im hoping thats not gonna be the case. I think I remember hearing Max say something about adjusting idle fuel trims.

    Dirty:

    Clean:

Next step, alchol bath & primer

    One coat of primer

    2nd coat

    1st coat of black

Decided to do the rings and quattro badge while I was there.
    (1st coat of primer)

Then came this stuff. Super impressed with how this paint looks. Looks like brushed aluminum.

I added a very lite dusting of this stuff. It's a very dull clear with tiny little flecks that look like the light reflecting off of brushed aluminum. It's VERY subtle, and only really visible in the right light.

Got home today and was going to put it on the car, when I noticed it was a little too dull. Came back and hit it with a little more gloss.

Cranking fuel needs to be increased. Warmup fuel decreased. Gonzo has done this with a friends car as well so I think he'll recall what he did.

Eric-- when you're all done are you planning on hitting an AWD dyno?

Yeah, he was warning me that it takes two cranks of the motor to get the m started. I was hoping that was just talk.

Can't wait to see some numbers!

You should have witnessed me turn on my car- fuel pump primer switch has to be held down for a few seconds before starting. Crank 2-3 times on warm days and apply gas after it turns on. James has witnessed it a few times at H2o, it was ridiculous!

    I personally considered it a anti-theft device.

Not looking forward to dealing with that. Im gonna need mine dialed in. Im not a fan of having to crank more than once for ignition. As soon as I get a chance to get on a dyno, Ill do it. I just need to find one (other than the one at USP). And I need someone there that can help me tune while its on the rollers. I think Gonzo might be able to tune remotely while Im there.
