My point is that if you intended this to be a joke, use a different title. Given the title you used, it looks like you're trying to troll. Those of us who have been around long enough "get it," but some of the new guys could get drawn into yet another pointless flamewar over GTI vs R32.

I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.

of course that's why i get all the time from the GTI set.

conversely, i only give it after they first. just like the military, the lower rank salutes the higher rank.

It always pisses me off that the dealerships call it a GTI. Whenever I get the sales pitches ("we'll buy back your car") they usually say GTI... and when I call in for service it shows up as a GTI.

They sold the damn car, it's a special limited edition model in the US, you'd think they would know that it's not the same FWD 2.0T...

I mean crap they might as well just call it a Rabbit at that point.

i had a MKV GTI. Chipped, even. It still wasn't the same car as an R32. If you haven't driven both, you'd never understand.

2 things I miss about my GTI

1.) Shifting manually with a clutch
    2.) Gas mileage

    These things both considered; R32>GTI.

i believe the manual shows it as GTI R32. But yeah, I get the nice Golf comment alot. At least my tech aand sa know what it is. My sa sees nothing special in the Gorfs. Oops I owe abeR money now for trademark infringement.

The only thing stupider than this thread is not trading in your R32 for a Golf R.

I don't totally agree with this but I saw this "future collector cars" list recently:

    http://www.boston.com/cars/gallery/f...ollector_cars/

Look at #6 on the list.

There's a few cars on that list that I could see being collectable in the future including the R but do they really think that people in the future will be yearning for a 2012 Buick GS?

Sometimes I think that the manufacture's right these articles.

Although what's funny about them picking the Buick Regal GS is I think it's actually made by Opel so it's really a German car.

Serious car people will never get past that the TTRS is deep down sort of a Golf. The new 911 is in no way a game changer and nobody is going to be specifically lusting after it in 25 years though it may hold its value well, it isnt like its the last 993 turbo S or something. The Mustang and Camaro are tribute cars the only people who will want them are people who couldnt have the real ones from the 60s. Strangely the Buick might someday be collectable as one of those lemons that bombed and so few were made that they are rare.
