Feels good to enjoy this car again but going up for sale. No motor shots yet but its an m52 with OBDI/red label, mishimoto/spal, headers/exhaust, 2.93 rear end, etc.

How involved is an M52 swap into a 6 cylinder E30? How's it drive?

a friend of mine in Cinci is currently doing a m50 swap into his 325 after yanking the m20 and his went VERY smooth.

although this swap (for basically a bunch of first-timers with little experience) fought tooth and nail, i can say that if it was done a second time around it would be much smoother. mine didnt go as smooth because of lack of experience and finding correct combination of parts. to me, its a frankenstein swap because it uses so many different parts. e34 m5 motor mounts, e36 aftermarket headers, custom exhaust, e36 drivetrain components, OBDI e36 wiring/sensors, 540i maf, etc etc. theres a lot of great info out there that i used as a basis for parts collecting but past that there are some areas where you can choose what setup you would like (transmission, clutch setup, TOB/slave cylinder, rear diff, wiring). there were hang ups in my swap with regards to finding out which was the correct TOB/slave cylinder combo to use.

car drives great, it rips, and people are confused as to why there is such an extreme amount of noise coming out of such an old/small car. the 2.93 LSD rear mixed with the ZF trans makes this car drive near close to what a stock m52 e36 would which is what i was going for. i wanted a nice cruiser and its long geared for that, at 70-75mph im around 3k on the rpms which is great. i also chose the 2.93 because its good for boosted cars and track cars and i wanted the next owner of the car (whoever that is) to have those options available to them if its a route they wanted to go. i almost went with a 3.73 rear end and i kind of wonder how that would have driven. probably would have gotten me the little edge of peppyness that this car lacks but i knew that the 2.93 came with that territory.
