Mustang ownership: cruising at 1500 RPM: oops time to upshift!

Well everyone was always telling me my car shoots fire. If I get on the throttle hard and it spits flames some excited kids or car guy always pull up next to me and "Holy **** your car just shot flames back there!" so I decided to get a vid and see for myself.
Here's another one rowing the gears. I decided to do some Steve McQueen up-shifting a la Bullitt just for fun.
Sorry for the "clicking" sound that's the camera picking up the fuel pump. And I know the video is black, it's night-time. Deal with it, it's for the sound (poor quality but still sound).

Oh and i'm well aware that the triple carbs are running way too rich. I have some work to do in that department including a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket and a fuel pressure regulator.

My bike (BMW K75 triple) will do it on deceleration through the stock exhaust. First generation electronic fuel-injection has it's glitches and loopholes. If I hold the throttle sliiightly open (enough to trip the throttle position switch) on deceleration it will pop a flame as it passes through 3500RPM almost every time.
Good fun when I'm downshifting each gear coming up to a red light.

lined up next to my dad in his B7 A4 wagon, and i was in my mk3 Jetta GLX on the way home from college. when it turned green, on my way up to the 60mph speed limit, i was on it hard and my dad noticed blue flames on the upshifts. thought it was pretty cool.
12v vr, 268 cams, high-flow cat, cat-back exhaust for reference.

510? Pics or... tits...or something man!
I offloaded my mk1 vw collection (well...except for a ton of parts) and I think my next project is going to have to be a 510 coup.

Mine does. I was playing on an off ramp one night and a Mercedes got on my ass, wanting to play. Not knowing what it was, I down shift, punch it and hear what can omly be described as a bang.
Mercedes is up my ass. I shift to 3rd and see a flash in the rearview. The Merc backs off and I realize it's a ****ing e55. Way out of my speed league.
So, my car shot a fireball and he was like 3 feet off my bumper. He pulls up alongside and gives me a **** face.. I laughed, gave him a thumbs up, which he grudgingly returned and we went on our way.
I'm really just here for the pancakes.
I'm Sorry Hachi... I love you.

My old 210 would if you got off the gas at high revs.
Stock motor with a completely open exhaust all the way through.
The 740 doesnt shoot fire, but if you're engine braking and goose the throttle you can definitely hear it popping.

About ten years ago I was still daily-ing an '85 Saab turbo. I had the boost turned up and added fuel pressure regulator from a non-turbo Saab to deliver a bit more fuel. Somewhere along the way I also found a one-piece stainless straight pipe for it (getting that home was interesting).
Anyway, not exactly precise tuning. But great for shooting flames on an upshift from high revs. Best part was that it did this for a long time before I ever noticed... the flame events didn't usually make much noise.
All in all, a very intimidating combination with the black "SPG" package the car had. Much more so that the car really warranted, I am sure.![]()

Lol, no.
When I was younger we had a '69 VW bus that'd had a Super Beetle engine swapped in at some point. It was a bit tired, but had headers and a side-exit exhaust with a glass pack and would occasionally shoot out flames that were 1-2 feet long after lifting or when shifting.
We lived in kind of a ritzy area (back where all the service sector people lived). At lights people would occasionally roll down their windows and say things like, "Excuse me, did you know your car was shooting out flames back there?" We would just nod and say something like, "Yeah, it does that."

My FD RX7 used to always shoot flames...it was fun! No videos though :/
I'm pretty sure my Buell shoots flames on decelleration. It pops pretty damn loud repetitively and the exhaust isnt that long. Sadly, there's no place to mount the gopro on it to take a video of said popping/possible flames.
