I'm sure if your car was supposed to have a cat an emissions equipment you could have problems for removing it etc. In an old classic though I'm not sure there is any charge you'd get unless you were speeding.

Can a car still shoots flames even if it has a cat (but with an aftermarket exhaust with straight-through mufflers)?

I'm pretty sure my old 8v mk2 gti did but of course I never saw it. I had headers, 2.5" exhaust with no cat, and a straight through magnaflow muffler. Whenever I was coasting to a stop in gear the exhaust would go "puhb puhb puhb puhb".

    Those are pretty cute.

    This does:

Supercharged VR6 with big(ish) cams and a very open exhaust.

Got it for $800 with 300 miles on it. I'd like to think I've made it less cute. Lots of mods and hopefully more to come.

Here's a stock one for comparison

I'm on a scooter kick right now. I like those :-) but I was reffering to the flames.

My last car also shot flames pretty readily

A guy I know and talk to every once in awhile... This turbo (Schwitzer S475) had over 100 9-10sec passes and about 30-40 sled pulls on it with nitrous.

The sparks and pops were the exhaust wheel exiting this orbit.
