What will they be reflashing? Which Control Module? If it is the ECM . . . . then all of us tuner folks are Fuxored.![]()

Service advisor at my dealer says that there is going to be a flash coming out soon, if not already that will disable the ESC like our friends north of the boarder have.
I will believe it when I see it, but that is what he said. NO this is not a April fools joke.

For some reason I hope this is true. I'll probably never track my car and having this feature will probably never effect me. But since I know others can i want to be able to, too.![]()

I would think VW has to address ESC issue, Golf R being the one of their top performance cars.

The R or R32 has never been meant for the track the way an EVO or STI are, so I don't think this is as high a priority for VW.
Flaws aside, I'm glad the R is designed the way it is, street car first - after all you can mod a street car into a track car, but you can't make an STI or EVO into a comfortable, refined street car.

Nah I remember him saying in another thread that he had a bad experience with them, I just don't remember exactly what it was. But like webcrawlr said... it's getting to be a little bit much.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience, and I understand you never want to purchase anything from them again, but bashing them without actually backing your statements up in a clear and concise manner just makes me tune out what you have to say... which I think is the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish.

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, has anyone confirm this ESP flash to be true?

It is law but the law doesn't say the user can't choose to turn it off. The new 2013 viper has ESC that can be tuned AND turned off. A 600hp RWD car can have ESC disabled but a sub 300 AWD car can't?

Some adaptations were unavoidable. Stability control is now mandated by law, so for the first time ever, it's standard on the Viper. Anticipating the potential blowback, SRT says its engineers spent nearly as much time developing the stability control system as they did the rest of the car. The goal was to create a system that would help drivers when needed without their noticing. It even does a bit of torque vectoring with the brakes to keep wayward drivers out of ditches. Of course, if you're feeling brave, you can always just turn the system off and try your luck.
