Looking at a 2012 CC here locally. Beautiful car...

One quick question: Does it REQUIRE premium gas??
I mean, is there anyone out there using regular, and does that void the warranty? LOL

    Thanks,
    Mark

Yes Premium Gas. I have not tried regular and I doubt anyone else has unless it was by mistake. If your looking for the 2012 go with the R Line

I had regular, on a mistake, couldnt really tell a difference. They do require 93 octane.

91 recommended. The owners manual says no lower than 87. Considering premium is usually $0.30 more than regular your looking at a difference of $5 bucks a fill up, assuming a 17 gal fill up. I'd stick with premium to avoid a loss of performance.

    Just my opinion.

It's okay to run a lower octane like 87, but you'll get less "performance"

And for the premium it's only a .20 cent difference here in Michigan....so 18 x .20 is only a $3.60 difference and worth it IMO

I don't mean to sound rude, but this is a pretty dumb reason in which to base a decision. If you like the car, buy it.

Alot of cars require premium gas these days, and as others have said, it's not the big of a price bump.

    CC's are great cars btw!!

The CC is a "Premium Recommended" car, not "Premium Required". I'm sure you lose some performance with a lower octane. I get a mid grade, and my tank MPGs dropped from 32.5 to 32.0, or a very immaterial amount. Although I drive almost all highway, and with a relatively light foot.

Edmunds explained this well last year:

I have a 2010 CC R Line, bought in August of 2010, now have 81,000 miles on it, I run 89 Octane 90% of the time and average about 600 miles a tank. I only put in 91 when it is within 3% of price, because I only notice a 3% improvement in mileage.

The CC takes premium and that's exactly what I use. My 2002 V6 Passat also required premium and I always used it and never had any performance problems. My mechanic still is amazed that the Passat performs so flawlessly after ten years.
