I decided to sell my GLI & use the money to modify my 2012 GTI. A member here contacted me showing interest, I had several other people interested but I wanted it to go to what I thought would be a good home. Even though this person didn't seem to know much about cars, especially VW's He made arrangements to fly from PA to florida to have a look at the car, this was after sending him pictures, making a video & answering every imaginable question. I took the day off work picked him up at the airport and drove him to my home. After he took a 30 min test drive, he decided that he wanted to purchase the car, my original asking price was $10,500 I reluctantly agreed to $9,800 even though the car had only 77,000 miles & I had just about every receipt totaling around 9K in upgrades and maintenance records. I then proceeded to take him to get the title transfered & loaned him part of the money to pay the tax. He gave me a cashiers check & left the same night for the 1K mile trip back to PA His check was returned by my bank & he is now complaining about minor problems with the car. The real kicker is that I had a buyer come by the night before with cash in hand but I refused the sale because I had given my word. Today I sit here, my car is in PA & I have yet to see a dime. I have had to involve the police & he refuses to take my calls. Word to the wise, if you have any dealings with a member named Krimzon, BE CAREFUL !

Thank you, Unfortunately I don't really want it back with over 1000 extra miles. In the state of Florida, it would be considered grand theft of an automobile, the fact that he took it across the state line, will make it a Federal crime. Unless he is interested in spending some time inside of a Federal Institution, I better have a check next week.

Kind of off topic but isnt the whole point of a cashiers check the fact that it cant bounce because you need the cash on hand to get one from a bank? jw because I have always used them for these type of deals. Or did he leave before you tried to cash it and it wasn't real?

    Good Luck!

Oh Dan, if only you would tell people the whole story instead of your "pity me" side of it. I was going out of my way to get that check to you before the week was out up until your wife and you began cussing me out and harrassing me to no end.

I don't think I would bother you with minor issues, rather than just fix them myself. I simply said about how inconvenient it is to have to start putting money into a car before it is even paid for. You weren't completely upfront about everything with the car and I didn't feel that was right, but I guess some people are just like that.

Than you call the police on me and start threatening me with felonies and FBI raids (which I did have a good laugh about the raids ) and grand theft auto.

I'm starting to wonder if you and your wife are a bit . It hasn't even been a week and you understand the policies at my bank since we 3-way called them, the turn around time for this is not instantaneous and you are going to have to be patient.

As I have stated before PLEASE stop with the threats and massive amounts of texting, I am very busy with work, college, and my child.

I don't believe you are the one who was planning on paying for the stop payment fees on the first check even though it was due to your own bank not allowing you to cash it, and I also don't believe you were planning on paying the costs to expedite the whole process in general?

Let me put emphasis on this since you do not seem to understand; "YOU WILL GET THE NEW CHECK WHEN I THE BANK MAILS IT TO ME!".

This will be my last message to you and your wife and any other messaging will be considered harrassment.

Leave me and my family in peace, enough is enough.

    -Bye

Well, if you call the bank quickly enough, you can actually have a cashiers check cancelled (for a fee). I'm guessing that's probably what he did.

Good luck with this. With felony charges potentially backing you up, I'd imagine this gets resolved rather quickly. Keep us posted.

Now we have both sides, how soon before it gets shut down lol. Hope it all works out for both of ya's since I dont really know who, if anyone, is at fault. Interesting note on the cashiers check, I will make sure to cash them before giving up one of my toys.

Unfortunately, In the great state of Florida a cashiers check is not like cash because there is so much fraud down here. The check from his credit union was made out to myself &. him. He signed it over but that wasn't good enough. He has to be present & a bank rep has to witness him sign the check or it's worthless. He has to go to his bank & stop payment, have a new check issued in my name only, which he hasn't done. Monday, it will have been a week.

Ahh that sucks. Well the buyer poster in here to try and defend his name which is a really good sign (seen hundreds of bad deals on my paintball forum and been in a couple myself), much better then him dissapearing altogether. May not be as quick as one may want but hopefully it gets resolved soon!

Bryce Vautar, if you think that the felony charges and FBI getting involved are a joke, try me. Who do you think you are. I picked you up from the airport took you around like a taxi service and let you borrow money when you didn't have enough to pay the taxes. never once did you even say thank you. You talk tough for a little man. Tell me on the phone how your going to straighten me out. I know your going to pay me because you don't have a choice. Instead of faxing over the paperwork to the bank as promised. You decided to take your time. Do you think because your 1000 miles away, I can't reach out and touch you ? Keep playing. If you don't know who I am, you better ask someone. I have not harassed you or even spoke to anyone in your family. I have done what any normal person would do in my position. I too have a life, job, family & have better things to do than argue with a punk kid. If you think that the rest of the world owes you something or is going to cater to you. well then you have a lot to learn. Be careful, you know what they say happens to kids like you in prison

I put less than 10,000 miles a year on that car & treated it like a baby. always garage kept, never smoked in, all books & records. He stalled it twice while I was there, no telling what has been done to it now. The money was to be used to go stg3+ on my GTI. Think about it seriously, what would you do or how would you feel. It's not just the mileage. I've never let anyone drive it except my wife.

Guys, seriously: take your drama somewhere else. What started as a well-intentioned "beware of this buyer" has just turned into a petty argument that no one else has any business in. We all know your e-peens are six feet long. Don't drag the 3/2/G forum down over it.
My 20th is currently: clean/dirty girl, out for the summer/hiding from salt and sand, CEL on/off. I currently love/hate my car.

You both are idiots, but mainly the op. Now that you've threatened him, by name, on a public forum anything that might possibly happen will be quickly discovered. I'm sure there's already screen shots, so it's too late for any of that.

I hope you both learned your lesson about buying/selling cars. This is a prime example of how NOT to do it. No one leaves my presence with something I currently own until proof of payment, ie, cold hard cash in my hand, or numbers in my account.

This makes me sad for society.

I almost had this happen to me when I recently sold my 20th. The check was made out to the buyer and me and he signed it over to me. My bank wouldn't deposit it because they said he had to be present and fingerprinted also. I took a gamble and mailed him the check because he seemed sincere about wanting to get me my money. ($10,500) to be exact. He went into a branch office of my bank and deposited the money into my account there. It took about a week for the check to fully clear but at least I got my $$$$$. I was fortunate enough to be dealing with a guy who had some morals. Learned a lesson. Don't take a cashiers check or certified check unless it is made out to just you or you OR omeone else. I hope it all works out for you bro. Good luck.

Thank you for your input. This would be an easy way to solve the problem. Unfortunately, this guy seems to want to make it as difficult as possible for me even though I tried to make everything as easy and affordable as I could for him.

This will be my last post concerning this issue, many people through out my life have mistaken my kindness for weakness. I try to treat everyone the way in which I would like to be treated. When it comes to money or anything I have worked hard to get, I take it very seriously. The original post was my way of trying to help anyone else out there, so they don't get caught up in the same situation. That's it. Happy Hoidays

Cash in hand or no deal! I had a guy want to drive 3.5 hours to buy my truck with a check, I told him bring cash or don't bother coming. He finally got the cash and deal was done. No offense, but I wouldn't have let that car go without full payment in hand or account. Just sayin

The purchaser will not accept my calls, or calls from the bank. It has been almost ten days & still no payment. I guess he thinks he just gets to keep the car.

Last time I checked a cashiers check is as good as cash. Unfortunately, the last time I checked was years ago. You live & you learn. There is a new generation of kids out there who think the world owes them something. I have worked hard my whole life to get what I have. Nothing has ever been handed to me.
