I'm finally starting to part out my black '79 Scirocco, AKA Retro, due to the cancer on the passenger side rear trailing arm mount, and inner and outer rocker next to it. You can literally reach right in...

I'm keeping some parts, here's a partial list:

    50mm intake and TB
    Zender grille
    Urethane strut mounts

    Parts For Sale list:

    TT race DP
    TT 2 1/4" SS Borla cat-back
    Bilstein HD full struts
    Neuspeed sport springs
    K&N air filter
    Alpine amplifier
Alpine 4x6" m fit in the door
    16V instrument cluster
    VDO oil temp gauge
    Ronal Turbo 15x7" w/195 50 15 Dunlop SP's
    OZ 14x6 wheels with Dunlop SP's 195/55/14
Pioneer sparetire subwoofer, one used, one new

    SOLD LIST
Windshield is sold to Walt and going to NC
The cracked passenger side turn signal was sold to CA
The split sunroof was NOT sold today 5/4/12, no show
Driver's side turn sold to Michael Bee
    Doors and dash are gone

If you want to buy the car as a roller, before I strip it, hit me up now, or forever hold your peace. I'd rather see someone fix it up, so I'll hold off on cutting anything up, for a couple of days, maybe it can be resurrected, it being Easter and all.

I'll post up pictures of the damage...

The 16V Scirocco pedal cluster is still available, 16V brake booster x2, and a recently rebuilt 22mm M/cyl.

This is the very fast 1.8L 16V Mk.1 Scirocco, that you might have seen at Waterfest, H2O, and Cincy... This is a Wednesday 1.8L 16V engine, and it has a 4K trans, with an 80% kit.

BUMP IT! If you've seen the car...

It has the funky dealer installed split sunroof, and the seals are still good, but the roof is pretty well fK'd...

I replaced the windshield and factory gasket on the '79 Scirocco, a few years ago, probably about 500 miles with that windshield and gasket.

...And yes, the one with the euro bumpers!

Here's what she looked like before she got cancer...

This is how Retro sat with the Scirocco 2 16V Neuspeed Sport springs and Bilstein HD's...
A 16V Scirocco would sit 1 1/2 lower than stock... i.e. lower than my Scirocco, especially in the front...

Both taken by a random girl, that used to have a Mk.1.

    Old pics from my website...

    At CINCY...

At Waterfest, the dustbowl year, when I met a dude, that bought my euro bumpers at a U-pull it in Germany. I left early, followed him home, and he sold them to me for a song. They came with a euro fog tail-light, bolted to the rear bumper.

I bought this Scirocco as a roller, that was freshly painted, built it up from the ground up, and it came from Arizona, so I was really disappointed and surprised, when I discovered the cancer.

    Race DP and exhaust...

I have a 16V Scirocco Supersprint resonator, check it out:

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...6#post76805226

    RR

LF turn signal was sold for $30 and free shipping, because it was chipped.

    LR

I normally throw out broken stuff, but these are pretty rare.

For sale: 16V Scirocco calipers for 10.1" brakes, $120 including US shipping.
I should clean my garage more often...
First to IM, or text me gets them...

My replacement exhaust manifold, inlets and outlets have been smoothed up.

And this is where they crack:

New picture of rear euro bumper...

    Man, I miss this car...

Get a welder from harbor freight for 120 and weld it up yourself that's what I did

Don't grind the welds for more structural reinforcement.

I have a welder, but I'd rather work on the '81 S AKA MARS, that I bought from Randy in California.

I'm also finishing up my 3A AUDI long-block swap in my '84 Rabbit GTI, so I have plenty of things to do.

I'm asking $700 for the euro bumpers, they were really tough to find, and right now they are a back-up set for my the '81 S.

You are 3rd in line on the euro bumpers, it's all about 1st come, first serve and right now VW DRU is up...

They're in pretty good condition... I've had a lot of offers of $600 over the years...
I've owned them for 11, or 12 years, and I'm only selling them, because I need the money. When I bought them, I took them apart, and replaced most of the hardware with stainless bolts, and sandblasting and PoR'ng the brackets.
That was a long time ago, and they could probably use another refresh. After I stopped driving the '79, it was kinda nice to know, that I had a back-up set of Mk.1 euro bumpers.

I'll try to post pictures tomorrow...

The car doesn't have a hatch cover, but I do have some...

I'll post up some pics tomorrow, of the better condition ones.

Give me an offer on the sunroof... Do you need any sheet metal, or just the sunroof parts?

    LMK.

    Thanks,

I need that bracket for my 3A long-block install, because the Corrado valvecover doesn't have the throttle cable stop.

    You could just fabricate one...

It's an engine that was built on a Wednesday... By Wednesday, their hangovers have worn off from the weekend, and they're not daydreaming about the weekend yet.
It's just a joke, but anyone, that's ever rode in it, agrees, and couldn't get over, that it's just a 1.8L...
With the little engine that could, the race DP, the 50MM intake, Borla exhaust, made a synergy of power, that was greater than the sum of the parts, in the lighter car, made this Mk.1 Scirocco faster than all 1.8L 16V Scirocco 2's. It was on plenty of treks to CINCY, with other Sciroccos, which was a great proving ground. The only Mk.2 1.8L 16V, that came close, was my friend, Marc Getty's red 16V, that thing was fast for a 1.8.

Check-out my first engine swap, I measure the harness holes on the 16V, and replicated them on my wiper cowl, it looks stock, which is what I was going for, actually better than stock...

I'm keeping the 50MM, but I have passenger side 50MM manifolds for sale for $250.

I was thinking $75, or less if they pull it, it's not exactly a fun job.

I think someone wanted that, though... I'll check with him later today...

Or, if they read this, please post up, if you still want that.
