I'm second guessing getting stage 1 because of the stuff iv been reading online. Anyone have any problems with there DSG transmission after stage 1? Also my car only has 5,000 miles on in.

I quit reading about all the threads people post about their complaints. It seems as if people only post when there is something wrong with their cars, which makes people scared of something they shouldn't be. You rarely see a thread about somebody praising how their DSG and how it well it works with a stage 1 tune... but always when there is a problem... my $.02

ok thats good to hear. the thing that fu*ked me up was, that the dsg transmission is only rated for 258 lbs TQ(vw standers) and stage 1 is 305. if there was a problem apr wouldn't of produced it. ok had a little scare but back on track now haha made the appointment for wednesday the 11 to get stage 1 last week, wont be doing any canceling

It will handle it for sure. There are guys on here running Stage 3 (~400 lb ft of torque) with their DSGs with no problems. It's a tough transmission!

because of increased TQ you have to change the tranny fluid more often or is that another scare tactic

    400 lbs not worried anymore

Nope. 40K should be enough. I have that service coming up in about 3000 miles. Yay. NOT!

$350 for the DSG service. The 40K service can be done for under $100 if you do it yourself.

Stage 1 you will not get 305 number with DSG. Its limited to 258 by VW. REVO has DSG flash, I am not sure if allows you 305 or more. Many people run Dyno after, results shows max 258. I have TDI with stage 1, It feels like more than 258 (236 factory with tdi).

DGS (6 spd. wet clutch) can handle more than 400+hp (check R section, one guy (TEFF) has r with dsg (same as GTI) and running 618 tq.

Not the same trany but remember Bugatti Veyron has DSG as well...

APR states that with a Stage 1 tune, you will make 305 at the crank. Since that is right off the engine, the transmission is out of the equation and therefore their advertising is correct.

However I find it hard to believe that the DSG limits to 258. That makes no sense at all.
    Have VCDS, will travel.

There is a limit, but people are dynoing what they're supposed to be getting from their tunes, so not sure if something's being ignored in the ECU or what.

    according to WIKI:

the DSG on the GTI is paired with car that have up to 260 lb-tq, that does not mean it is a limit...
