Im completely new to vw and looking into getting a set of these for my car. however im not quite sure what is all involved between the tails with and without the fog if anyone can give me any information so i know what would be better for me.
What does the fog do exactly, what are reqs for the tail with the fog?
Does the tail without the fog just bolt right up and no need for coding or whatnot?

Ok RB Jeff heres what i know. No matter whether you get OEM or not, WITH FOG or WITHOUT FOG you WILL need to have them coded(explained at the end). The ones WITH FOG will replace the RIGHT rear REVERSE light with the FOG light. When you have it on it's for inclement weather purposes i.e., FOG, RAIN etc,(just to let people behind you be able to see you better) Others just like the look of it. If you do the FOG option you will need another wire and also the selector switch by the steering wheel since your putting in the fog option. People I know that DON'T get the fog still get the selector switch just so they can have different options for lighting for example DRL and Tails on while the headlights are still off. Hope this answers your question. Last thing is technically you don't have to code them, BUT every time you start your car it will go through a testing of the bulbs sequence, and you will get the "ERROR" symbol for your lights on your dash UNTIL YOU CODE THEM. Otherwise they will work. Hope i cleared everything

My concern is quality. I went aftermarket on my E46 M3 and 2 years later one of the tails is out.

I've been selling these lights for almost a year now.
I've had no burnt out LEDs reported after the lights were installed and working. I also offer a one year warranty on the LEDs.
For aftermarket, you should look at the brand, and honestly, OEM products do fail as well. Your dealer usually does not offer anything more than a one year warranty on their parts as well.

Can anyone confirm what size reverse bulb is needed for these tails? Also, has anyone installed LED reverse bulbs, and if so can you link to the ones you bought? Thanks.

It appears to be a T10, here is a useful link:

Just a few sets left, new stock wont be here until early next year.![]()

You mentioned a 1 year warranty on these. Does that include condensation / water issues in that first year? Also, what if we had an issue with only one of the sections after the year, is there a way to exchange just one?
Thanks!
