So honestly, you guys that have the APR Tune. How big of a difference is it over stock. It almost seems to good to be true to get 250+ hp and 300 ft lb. of torque for only 600.00.

So is it a really large difference or is it just a little extra oomph.

Also just FYI, I'm in Texas so we run 93 here, not that crap 91 stuff.

Very common HP gains with turbo'ed engines. Turning up the boost makes a world of difference. Some turbo engines gain 20+ hp just from a CAI and exhaust bc there are so much restriction with the stock parts.

From what I've read, the APR tune is well worth the upgrade. I'm trying to get mine in before the sale is up on the 21st.

You can tell the difference between 93 oct and 91 oct but you don't know if you'll be able to feel the difference between 250hp and 200hp?

It's a huge difference I can't imagine driving the car stock after having that.

No, I was simply stating that I use 93 because according to APR, the horsepower is a little different.

I was really asking because I have heard that the APR tune is simply not as powerful as it claims. Even people stating they were still well under 200whp after the tune. Just wondering what you guys thought about it. It seems like a great buy for only 600.00.

    Thanks guys.

If you care about the feel - it will feel incredibly different. Looking at HP numbers is trickier because every dyno is different and every car is different. You also just made a comparison between their stated 250bhp and lower whp figures that you came across. With that said, in my opinion APR is a milder tune than say GIAC or Unitronic, but the difference is minor and even a mild tune will be more than enough to wake the car up. The general rule of thumb for off-the-shelf tunes is that you should go with whatever company has a dealer that is close to you for convenience and support reasons. The difference between all the companies are minor, but the difference between any aftermarket tune and stock is night and day.

Alternative question, is it better to start with a tune or Cai and Downpipe?

Tune...you can upgrade to stage 2 later after you get the down pipe.

Get the tune first, then an intake, and then if you still want more power....go Stage 2 with a downpipe later on

A Stage 1 tune & an intake will make about the same power as a Stage 2 car though (without an intake & just a downpipe)...the power band is just different (Stage 1 utilizes the torque...Stage 2 pulls harder in the higher RPM's)

Won't the larger downpipe help the turbo spool faster, though, and thereby increasing power down low?

No...if anything there is more of a delay with the larger downpipe due to the loss of backpressure.

Do some reading...people that were Stage 2 and go back to Stage 1 do it because they want that power back down low.
With Stage 2, the power curve shifts over

Backpressure = good for torque, bad for hp
No backpressure = good for hp, bad for tq (hence why it'll pull better in the high RPM's)
