Here it is, I decided to make a new thread because the old ones title was pretty stupid. If you do want to look at the old one here is a link. Also sorry about the door buzzer after I put the key in, I didn't even notice it until after I uploaded it to youtube.

Pretty sweet. Can you install navigation on the touch panel?

Wow that is nice. A bit cleaner of an install and interface and that would be amazing.

The touch panel can vnc into a computer, so if I had a computer with gps hardware and software it would work for navigation.

The touch surface is actually flush with the dash bezel I wish I could get a better bezel for the touch panel. It could be a lot worse, I could have gauges in the vents or on a pod somewhere, that looks like **** IMHO.

Have you thought about painting the silver parts of the bezel black? It seems the overall shape matches the soft curves shape of the 93 dash, it's just that gaudy silver color that really makes it seem out of place.

The silver area does remove and I would like to paint it, what is best for someone with little painting experience? Is there a good place I could bring it to get it painted, like a body shop? I know it's probably pretty easy to paint it, but I would like it done right.

SEM color coat vinyl spray would do the trick. It can be found in a spray can at lots of upholstery shops.

I used a textured bumper paint to paint the faceplate frame off one of my previous receivers. Came out as a great match to the dash. The distance from which you spray dictates the coarseness of the texture. Practice on a piece of cardboard, then go nutts It'll come out great, just be sure to roughen up the faceplate a bit before applying the paint. I also applied a thin coat of clearcoat to it and it still looks great today.

Kudos to you for doing something completely different. I've never heard of anyone going to such lengths to automate the stock airbox. That being said, I'd never do it. The manual knobs are much more simplistic and straightforward to use. Seems like a painful road to add in a ton of relays and wires, all while decreasing usability to boot. I'm sure it's something you've always wanted for yourself though, so thanks for sharing it with us

    Schweet!

You know were all waiting for you to get the double din conversion from the Chinese Golf to put a flush mount touch screen in there.

How would you rank the difficulty of the install compared to a custom Crestron install? You got this done pretty damn quick.

Awesome work/ project. If you could get rid of the plastic housing and make a clean face integrated into the center dash bezel that would be tittttties. Regardless, very nice job man.

I wouldn't do this with Crestron, because:

#1 Crestron requires 24VDC or 120 AC, AMX uses 12VDC, all the equipment that I installed is plugged in without having to convert.

#2 Crestron has no small control frames, I tried to hide an old Gentner AP800 DSP for my stereo and deemed it to big, it was a single rack unit like a Crestron frame.

#3 Crestron Products seem to run about three times as much as AMX. I bought all the AMX gear for about $350 on ebay Crestron would of been probably $1000+

#4 I don't believe Crestron has a double din sized panel and I don't think they support any video input. I don't know that I will use the video input, but I like that I have the option.

I'm sure setting the program up probably would of taken the same amount of time, but again I don't think the Crestron panels are as capable as the AMX ones for this application.

Will this work during the WI winters?

    ENVIRONMENTAL

    Operating Temperature: 0° C (32° F) to 40° C (104° F)
Operating Humidity: 20% to 85% RH
    Storage Temperature: -20° C (-4° F) to 60° C (140° F)
Storage Humidity: 5% to 85% RH

Damn you're right I'm screwed, I'm sure it won't work with that in mind. I know how all Iphones break here in the winter.

    Iphone Environmental Requirements

    •Operating temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)
    •Nonoperating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)
    •Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
    •Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)

Dude, I already told you I'm not running my car in the winter in the last thread. If you're so worried about this then I would recommend that you not install a system like this. As for me, it's my car and I'll do the same thing that I do when anything breaks in my car, fix it.

Looks pretty decent I would have painted the AMX black also to blend a little better, but may be in the future you can find or make a smaller bezel or shave it a tad so it looks cleaner.
    Sick project overall.

    Pretty slick, operations wise

Not too fond of the bezel, but sometimes the bad comes with the good

I dont care if the bazel is silver or black or red or whatever becouse its only a screen you can change it to your liking annyways.

But the idea of doing the touch panel and all the funktions is so ****ing sick you should have a big Credit for it dude. Nice to see something like this, specialy in the corrado.
    Loved to watch your movie...=)

Here is an update on my touch panel, I've added a Raspberry Pi to run Mp3's. If you've already watched to old videos you might want to just skip forward to about 3:20.

The Raspberry Pi is pretty great for a small media player. I also have it running Playstation games, but I have to figure a way to launch them using the command line so I don't have to break out a keyboard and mouse.

It's tough to give an estimate of how many hours I've worked on this, the Megasquirt was definitely the longest. Probably about around 60 hours for the Megasquirt and about 30 for the Amx control systems stuff.

I couldn't say how much I would charge either, do to the fact I don't think I would want to support a system like this.

That is a really cool interface... looks like you have a lot of knowledge with electronics and programming. I dont think many people could integrate that so well. Only thing I would change would be cleaner/ more OEM looking graphics... maybe copy modern VW systems.
