Quick question. I understand microcan is for MKV and up VWs but I was wondering if it will work as obd II to pull codes on a mkiv jetta?

No. A MicroCAN only does CAN bus communications. The Mk4 uses K-line communications. These two protocols use different pins on the OBDII connector. You need a HEX+CAN interface to talk to both generations of cars. Sorry.
