    Great, thanks much!

Footwell lighting is next since the SE's do not have this, or at least mine does not.

I would love to see where your footwell lights are located so I can see if mine is prewired just lacking the bulb or connector that holds the bulb.

Anyone care to share some pics of thier SEL footwell lighting locations and wiring? Thanks!!

The pedal cover is an option. You can install anytime you want.

Sorry, but I meant that I like his pedal covers. Not that they are missing.

So, the SE has a plastic tab where the lights go on the SEL model. When I have time, I will pull these tabs off and see whats underneath. I would assume the wiring for the lighting is there, just no connector and bulb.

Which dead pedal matches, and fits? Been offered the R line one but don't want to mix and match (I have the sports pedals and like that look better than the R32 look).

I ordered R-line dead pedal, but it could not fit. Let me know if you have any luck.

Reckneckracing (a Member of VWVortex) offered me to order one from Europe. That's where he got his. As I have been told..
However, few months ago I got from Bud the "R line" dead pedal but it did not work so hopefully this one from redneckracing will do...
I will keep you all posted.

Yeah, some round, some was two on one side two on the flush and two on the flip. That's a lot of hits to filter through to find the 194-501 wedge ones. The only 10.2mm wedge I could find was the blue ones (footwell, glove and trunk.... Not these single add on.). I tried contacting him again. We shall see.

I originally tested the led's by inserting the two led wires to their respective counterparts through the oem trunk lamp on passenger rear. Once contact was made the led lit up. That's where the success ends.

So I thought I could crimp off the plastic wire cover exposing the wire and simply touch the two wires as I did before and see the led's light up?? No dice. I then thought touched a piece of metal incase it needed to be grounded and still not lighting up.

Check out the pics below. They show how I was connecting and where that was in the trunk.
    Any help is appreciated.

ps apologize for lousy uploads I just learned how to do for 1st time.

OMG ! Buddy from that I've seen you are taking the power from the 3rd stop tail light wires !
Your pictures showing that, also I've confirmed on my car that solid brown cable belong to the 3rd stop.
You need to take the power from the OEM trunk lightbulb wires no from the 3rd stop wires.
I think if you press your brake pedal you will get power on those wires and will be able to light up the LED but only will work when pressing the brake pedal...

Make the connection again taking the power from the OEM trunk light wires as shown in my pics

    So,

coffeemade - did you ever plan on posting pics?

Daddydiesel - did you ever get the issue completely sorted or what?

Kchorro - if I can get away from the family for a few hours, going to try this mod this weekend.
    Thanks for all the help!

I can't find any of those exact T10 LED trunk light replacements on Ebay. That seller is only selling the blue ones as you've mentioned. Additional searches on Ebay yielded one potential seller, interestingly enough, his 194-501 T10 LEDs have this cool little plug adapters, but the actual led plate is too big :-/

    Kchorro, others completing this mod

    Silly question

Did you unplug the battery when doing this mod, just keep the trunk switch closed, or what? I keep hearing horror stories periodically about errors if you completely unplug the battery. I read a good chunk of the user manual last night and after reading up on how to initialize various features (auto close, pinch protection, key fobs for KESSY, push button start, and so on) I'm slightly paranoid about killing the battery connection completely for this relatively minor work. Thoughts on how you did it appreciated! Thanks.

No.......Im just driving around with them loose in my trunk hoping they get the urge to mate with the trunk light

So far that hasn't worked as I drove around the past 2 weeks.

There still there where I left them.
    They just lie there.
Staring at me when I open the trunk.
I think I even heard them mocking me.

Maybe someday Ill finish. I even left all the tools, wire cutter, electrical tape, crimper.

I just felt so defeated after Kchorro pointed out my "minor" error that I haven't got the courage, or initiative...... kindda like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh...

Did you disconnect the battery when doing this mod, mechanically keep the switch closed via some other method, or something else?

    Thanks.

I wired up all the LEDs and then I connected the wires to the leads of the trunk light. No issue at all and so easy.

Ok yeah we didn't do a DIY, but dude this is as simple as plugging in power to wall. Obtain some extra wire and connect all red together and all black together and then in the use a multimetter to determine which is the power wire from the trunk light. I shaved a little of the plastic from the wire and I twisted the cables on the respective side. I then used some electric tape to hold it in place.

I will take some photos , just for you
