Steering noise

Hey guys, just picked up and 09 passat 2.0t. Noticed the other day when I turn the steering wheel that there is a noise coming from the steering column...maybe. I turn the wheel and the noise is like a "buzzing" sound. That's probably the best that I can explain it. Not sure if this is normal, maybe like an electric motor or something. Any help is appreciated. I did some searching but only found stuff on clicking or thumping noises, which is not the noise I'm hearing. Thanks!

So the steering is fully electric?

it is fully electric in the 07. not aware of any change's in the 09 when you start car a lil red & yellow steering icon should light up in your mfd, if steering problem occurs they will light up.

I hear that noise too sometimes. I think it might just be the electric motor that drives the power steering. It sounds like an electric motor to me anyway. Hope it's nothing else

If its a swishing/buzzing noise then its likely a noise clock spring.
