So just got a 2012 CC and love it so far and never thought of doing things to it until this forum so thanks for the great tips so far. I am going to get the APR stage 1 and I wanted to know should I also get the APR cold air intake? Is it worth it? How much extra HP will I get out of it?

    Thanks in advance

The intake will definitely make a noticeable difference but it doesn't have to be APR. They are typically overpriced. Search the forum for intakes and you will find plenty of threads. Some guys made thier own for dirt cheap.
APR Stage II, ATP Down Pipe, Magnaflow Catback Exhaust, K&N Typhoon Intake, A.W.E. Turbo Outlet Pipe, Steering Column mounted boost gage, Standard Suspension 32 way Coilovers, 19X8.5 Avante Guard Wheels, Clear Turns, R Line Tails, Euroswitch, Custom Shifter Stalk, Forge Short Shift Linkage, GC Body Kit, 35% Tint, beltronics hardwired radar detector.

It doesn't matter.. Just get a better stock size filter. CAI are pretty pointless on turbo cars. Really a waste of 300+ $$ when you can get a better filter for your stock box for like 50-70 bucks, but thats my opinion. Intercooler is what you want with a tune at some point. You def will feel a better throttle response with a CAI but really thats all..

I have found CAIs are MOST effective on turbo cars compared to NA. If any car were to benefit from a CAI, it's a turbocharged car. Same for "tuning". That's the great thing about boost and bang for the buck when modifying.

No one is making you spend $300.
In fact mjmautohaus has the neuspeed pflo on sale for $184 with free shipping. Quality piece, and some have tested the pflo to have higher numbers than the carbonio.

I like the fact that the carbonio is enclosed, but I don't like how the filter is head out toward the air Dam. That may be the reason some people are getting some surging.

I will in fact be selling mine this week for another intake.

Horsepower-per-dollar, the CAI are poor compared to an ECU tune. Your car already has a cold-air intake from the factory................

What are you thinking of replacing it with?

As for the performance....Stage 1 tune + intake will make almost the same power--minus 5tq--but without the exhaust noise as just a Stage 2 tune car without an intake.

    So it does help

    Stage 1 + intake:

    Stage 2 with exhaust:

    Stage 2 with exhaust & intake....the intake adds an extra 14hp & 4tq though:

Look into BSH or Forge and CTS Turbo for a more affordable intake

BSH and forge both have proven gains on tuned 2.0t's

As for tuning, i ran APR im now with uni and im much happier with the uni tune. Trackstar has made the same switch and is also much happier with Unitronic Chipped

    Sent from my EVO
Unitronic Stage III w/ PT5558BB Turbo (What a difference UNI is from APR!!)Unitronic.ca,HPFP Upgrade Stage 1 pump, 3in.TBE, BSH throttle pipe/27mm RSB/Endlinks , Forge 007 DV , RalcoRC SS, 42Draft Design CNC Shifter bushings, N2MB WOT box, BFI stage 2 motor/tranny mounts, 034 Dogbone, Koni FSD shocks, Neuspeed springs/25mm FSB, Whiteline Anti-lift kit/Front control arm bushings, 18x8.5 VMR VB3s, JBL stereo, CTS Turbo 2.0t FSI Big turbo kit!

If you want the cheapest (full) intake....this is probably your best bet:

I'm 99.9% sure it'll fit too (Autotech won't confirm it yet)

Looked ok to me. Except lack of heat sheild.

I went with the BSH Tru Seal intake, and emailed them on the possibility of getting the stage two pipe next. Still waiting on thier response. I have the Uni Stage 1+ tune and love it. Cant wait to get the intake installed now.

Yeah....it's not much, but for $150 it'll do the job: which is to flow more air

Sure you want the coolest air possible, but that's what the intercooler is for anyways

I'd be curious to see what the APR dyno results would be with Stage 2 + K&N drop in filter vs stock.
