Haven't heard anything yet, but I know harness connectors have caused issues in other VWs...

Hi all,
Relatively new car, less than 6 months old, less than 2k miles. The airbag warning light came on, and the MFD display reads "Airbag error".
Before I take it in, I'd like to know if anyone else has had an issue so early in their JSW life, and what was the cause? Just trying to ramp my expectations.
Thanks.

My airbag light was on from the beginning, likely before I drove it off the lot, though I'm not certain. Regardless, it took four freakin' trips to the dealership to get it fixed.
- trip 1 - yup, that light sure is on alright; diagnostics says it's the driver-side airbag; don't have a replacement; reset the error
- trip 2 - yup, that light is on again; took it apart and checked connections, etc. (but didn't have the replacement bag like they said they would, bastages); reset the error
- trip 3 - yup, light's back on; replaced the bag
- trip 4 - yup, not fixed; replaced the associated computer chip; now it's fixed
Hopefully my experience might save you some time.

Hmm... Good to know, thanks for the heads up. I'll post an update once I get my car back from the dealership. Hopefully, it's not a big deal...

I've set the light off a few times while doing the stereo. If you turn the ignition hot with the little passenger airbag light disconnected, it's trip the warning and keep it until you clear it with VCDS or take it to the dealer.

Same for me. When I removed my interior to soundpoof and run power and audio cable, I went through all of the same steps I've used since I worked at an audio shop during college in the early 90's:
Disconnect battery, wait about 15 minutes to allow the airbag capacitors to discharge, remove the seats, remove carpet, do the work, put everything back in, reconnect battery.
Aside from my amazement on how many wires cars have in them these days, and how damn complicated the interior panels are in VWs, everything went back together fine.
Still got an airbag error code. Dealership I went to was clueless about it.
I ended up buying one of these wannabe vagcoms from ECS and cleared the fault that way.

Still haven't been able to make it out to the dealership... I haven't messed with the audio unit, so I don't think that's the culprit. Hopefully it's not a wiring harness issue...

Turns out, it was just a loose sensor that was improperly fitted at the factory. Sigh. Glad it wasn't anything more serious.

No prob.
You might need to do a little surgery to the supplied cable, though.
The female end that is supposed to plug into the car didn't fit correctly on my '09 JSW 2.5L.
