Dubtechnik is not part of optiwerks anymore, I've seen a optiwerks front once and it looked good, and I have one on the way. I asked someone about the r-line a while back. I'll pm you.

I'm looking into buying a new rear bumper for my gti but I don't have the money for oem. Now I know I'm gonna get lots of people saying save money but I wanna hear from some people with replica experience. I think I'm gonna get the r-line rear bumper and possible side skirts. I've checked out dubtechnik/optikwerks but only heard bad things about them. Can anyone give me some good feedback or possibly recommend another replica company?

Same boat here. Been considering the r-line rear w/o cutout and skirts but optik seems meh. Doesn't seem like a lot of ppl run it![]()

Well based on what I heard from different people I'll probably be going with them. I emailed them and they even say that your gonna have to do some modding to the rebar if you don't have an r32 or euro rebar. I'm thinking that those people who have bad fitment either didnt take their time on the install or they just got an unlucky bumper. Your gonna hear about the bad ones a lot more than the good ones.

a little off topic...i have optikwerks skirts and they seem to be a good product, fitment was definitely good for the price..if the bumpers fit as well as the skirts im sure you wouldnt be dissapointed...im just unsure of how they hold up over time..

I've never heard bad things about skirts not fitting right, but bumpers on the other hand don't have a very good rep of fitting good. I may be dead wrong but that's just what I've read most of the time.

ive got a votex rep bumper from dubteknink (i dont care how they spell it) and the fitment is very good. its 1/8th short at the fender but that was made up by moring the fender forward, and it needed to be shimmed up on the pass side but thats prolly an issue with. my front carrier.

Dont do it, I have had replica bumpers from optikwerks and dubtechnik. They both suck.
R-line rep -
Terrible wheel well shape.
Votex Rep -
Those pics speak for themselves.
and..
Just looks terrible. Dont make the same mistake I did, it will eventually only cost you more in the long run than saving for the oem product. Plus, with the r-line (rep or not) You have to buy euro rebar for it to fit. So take that into consideration.

Yea I know that I'm gonna need a new rebar, or at least modify the one I have. But I've seen more positive feedback than negative from this posts and PMs. I'm gonna take my chances and hope I get a good bumper. Thanks for sharing your experience with them though. It will probably help someone else make their decision.

dubtechnik and fitment shouldn't be used in the same sentence!
dubtecknik is just a waste of money, you'll buy their product and pay lot more to have it adjusted and fitted and then you'll trow it all in garbage when you realize how much it sucks! The only way to get it will look good is after you use Photoshop!

I say it's your money and do what you want with it. I need to wet sand my bumper below to get it as shiny and as dark as the rest of the car, but this is what you get from optikwerks. And hopefully you are not shy with body work.... The worst fitting piece of fibre glass ever. There was a spot next to the passenger light that the people f***** up cutting and I had to re fibre glass and body fill over it. Also the piece under the headlight and under the hood where it meets up was very bad. About half an inch of gap. So I had to body fill it enough to cover it and make it match up properly... Also where matches up the the wheel well was pretty bad so I had to body fill it so it was similar looking to the fender... So in final get it if you want to do a lot of work.
For me I had fun taking a few weeks to shave, sand and putty the bumper to make it fit. It was relaxing and to see te finished product wasn't total crap was icing on the cake. Just need to get the bumper shiny and il be done.
Total work needed: 10/10

You havent researched enough yet then. Or you believe that you will be the one case out of hundreds here that have been there and done that, and know exactly how this will all go down in the end. You'll hate everything about it and be ready to toss that shiz in the trash. How about this, instead of buying one from them ill sell you mine for 1/5th the price and you pay shipping so I can get the damn things out of my garage.![]()
