Thread: Fox wagon rear springs

  1. 04-11-2012 06:04 PM #1
Does anyone know of a direct bolt in substitute rear spring for a 88 Fox wagon that will increase the spring rate by 30-50 % ???
The wagon is usded occasionally to haul some stuff, and the rear springs are just not up to the task !!
I thought there might be a heavier spring from a heavier VW, like a Jetta Wagon maybe, that might work?
No I don't want coil overs, at least at this time.
Altho it might be the ony solution.
    All input appreciated

Stock Fox springs are really soft. However, like any coil spring, cutting it will up the rates a bit -- but probably not as much as you desire. FWIW, one of my Foxes had 1.5 coils cut off all around. Lowered it just a bit and firmed things up noticeably.

Another option might be some aftermarket 35mm lowering springs for a MK2, which will up the rate but not lower the lighter/different Fox much, if at all.
