There's one up at Hampton Beach in NH, that's been there awhile. But the only reason that still exists is because they have a sweet boardwalk up there. An arcade on its own in suburbia would have a tough time of it.

1. Have children
2. Take children to Chuck E. Cheese
3. Buy package that include pizza and tokens to play arcade games
4. Play games that give tickets out for useless prizes
5. Redeem tickets for useless prizes
6. Make kids happy
7. ??????????
8. Profit
I worked at said type of establishment (an arcade, not CEC) in college and enjoyed it very much. Good hours, very cold (lots of air conditioning to keep the old school games cool), cute girls would come in from time to time to lose lots of tokens while playing Ms. Pac Man, and of course as an attendant you would "feed the machine" to keep the cute girls in the place, which drew more guys in, which meant more money...

Visit Weirs Beach, NH. There's at least five working arcades on the boardwalk, complete with worthless tickets from impossible skee ball machines that you can cash in for worthless prizes.

when i was in Japan, video arcades are pretty much every few blocks on any street
Can't tell ya the sense of nostalgia going in there and inserting coins and playing a few rounds of Tekken

For those looking at old arcade games, search for MAME.

I haven't played Gauntlet in forever, I would welcome an arcade. There is a pinball gallery in Downingtown now though, I still have to check that out. In the meantime my husband is assembling our own arcade. Sit down Spyhunter, Max RPM, a Captain Fantastic pinball we inherited, and a bitchin 1964 shufflebowl table to startStill looking for Nitro Groundshaker, and I'd like to find the Simpsons game...

coventry mall in pottstown still has an arcade i think. i haven't been to that mall in years though. from what i remember in middle school only the goth and weird mall rat kids hung out there. there is a antigue pinball arcade in st petes village in chester county. i've only ever seen it open on a saturay during the summer though.

The real arcades have a way different atmosphere than barcades.
Used to have a cool fairly big real jdm arcade near by and it was always packed till like 1am when they would kick you out.
I've been frequenting dave&busters lately because $3 wells / $5 shots with my lady + games has been fun.

My fantasy baseball league did a draft at this place. Basically a bar/pub/restaurant on one side, with a big function room, and then an arcade on the other side. After the draft and a few beers, we went and dropped $5-$10 each on some basketball shoot outs.
It was fun. Until the 4 year olds came up and started grabbing our balls and ran away. Note to parents: kids still need to be supervised at the arcade.

I built my own arcade
120" 1080p projection
PS3
Logitech G25 + custom cockpit + GT5/Dirt3/etc = better than any arcade racing sim
Move + Sharpshooter + Time Crisis/ House of the Dead/etc = better than any arcade shooter
MAME + HTPC + wireless Xbox 360 controllers = every arcade game I could ever want

There are a few arcades around in SoCal but theyre aimed more towards the fighting game crowd. They host tournaments etc
The only other option is Dave & Busters which is fun. Nothing better than finding that sweet spot while drinking where you can hit every shot on the motorized basketball game and then the subsequent crash and burn when you've had too much and then start throwing the balls at each other. ahhhhhh The GF's and I's first date![]()
