Goo Gone works pretty well too... just be careful if your 3-piece wheels are assembled as they will undo the sealant laid down.

What kind of sealant do you recommend? I read somewhere that window and door caulk worked well but certain kinds could eat into the aluminum.

I can't remember what was used, but my wheels were sealed with something containing 100% silicone. It was similar to the clear/translucent sealant used on multi-piece Schmidt wheels

I have a buddy that used Permatex's RTV head gasket sealant (that you could pick up from most automotive stores) without any issue

Awesome, thanks. Im going to try GE5050 Silicone II metal and aluminum sealant from lowes. And a little update... I painted all four faces with the rustoleum bronze metallic but wasn't completely satisfied. I was able to convince my brother to mix up some paint and respray them for me so they should look a little better than the rattle can. Friday is the target date haha

Well I finally got the centers back from paint and started putting them back together Picked up some new dacromet coated nuts for the wheel bolts and some GE silicone sealant. Ive got two done so far and should finish the other two this week. Hope to have the tires mounted and balanced and wheels on the car by next week (fingers crossed) haha Center caps will get done later.

Took advantage of the warm weather today and started a new project

A few weeks ago I picked up a set of OEM 2-piece Ronal Orca wheels off of craigslist to run during the winter. They are 17x7" et54 F/R with painted faces and a machined lip. A few had some minor curb rash but most of it was just in the paint. So I decided to split them apart and paint the faces a different color.

I Ordered some Schwaben triple square bits from urotuning and used the m8 bit, with a 1/2" socket and 1/2" drive ratchet and extension to take out the bolts.

After all of the bolts were out, a few taps with a rubber mallet on the backside and the center popped out. Because of the design of the wheel, you dont even have to let the air out of the tires!

Than I cleaned them up with soap and water and wet sanded the curb rash with 220 and 320 grit before giving the whole thing a once over with 320.

I Picked up some good ol rustoleum satin beige paint and gave the centers a few coats.

Once they dry all the way, I'll put some blue loctite on the bolts and torque em back down to about 35 ft/lbs.

Finished painting all of the centers and reassembled all four wheels.

I also ordered a set of 20mm spacers front and rear from ECS Tuning that came in friday.

That will make the the final specs 17x7" et34 and they should sit nicely in the fenders. Put the wheels on today and they sit perfect in the fenders. No rubbing even on the 225 45's. Will snap a pic or two tomorrow. Next step is to buy a set of General Altimax Artic 205/50 snow tires.
