I have a black jetta and a set of staggered 7 slots. I spent 12 hours stripping the PO's textured rattle can job off the wheels and was dead set on powdering them black. Now that i have them stripped to bare original aluminum Im second guessing thinking it may be too much black. I definitely do not want bright colored wheels. I giggle at everyone I see hopping on that bandwagon. Thoughts?, Input?, Other Ideas? I was supposed to drop them off for powder today but now im indecisive.
This was how they were
I wanted to powder them to replicate these
But now they look like this after stripping and it has me thinking I might want to powder them silver

I was dead set on the black for almost a year, and now that there stripped and I see how good of condition they are under that texture I am so damn indecisive. What sparked it is I saw a set of silver clubsports.

Goldthats my preference haha
But i'd say do a good silver or polished. It looks like way too much black.

Im definitely not going the polished route. Someone suggested powdering them chrome. Im not sure how I feel about that either.

Dont go black, that is soooooooo lame and un-original. I hate myself for saying this word "murdered out" but murdered out is one of the worst fads out there. It is for people who have no style or self thought in what they do. "hey my car is black.... I know I will paint everything black!!!!"
Go with a classic silver. It will make it pop so good on that dark car. It will give you a clean classic look. Paint the flags on the crest the way they should be. You will be stoked with how clean your car will look.

How about gunmetal?
I did my old D90's in that & they were a nice deep grey looking color. This way you have kind of a good medium if you don't want black or silver.

Isn't the factory porsche color like a gunmetal with a hint of bronze? That'd look good. Or something in between silver and gunmetal. I've personally never cared for black wheels.
I also think they would look much better satin black than that gloss black.
Get over it.

If I go silver it will probably be this color
http://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PMB-2811/
or this one
http://www.prismaticpowders.com/colors/PMB-1544/
or this one with a clear over it

I'd consider a bronze or gold, as long as its not too intense

Id say anything along the grey/dark silver, gun metal. even to a dark bronze type of color would look great.
maybe even some sort of wrinkle coating.
#24
I'd go with a brushed aluminum look, then powder coat clear

Here's the problem with gloss black. You got that shiny black wheel there, surrounded by aged, dirty fender liners, and a dirty brake rotor/caliper behind it. That shiny gloss black wheel only makes the things that aren't a clean gloss black stand out way more. Kinda how a black wheel looks dumb with a tire without tire shine on it.
A silver wheel will be bright, and draw the attention away to hide the not so clean things around it, and it won't make the things that are less black, look less black.
If you get what i'm trying to say...
Get over it.

I get what your saying. But the fender liners and brakes are not visible with the wheels on. The paint is obviously full and aged as well, but it's getting a full respray in the next year or so.
I am leaning more towards silver at this point though
