Thread: New Guy to VW

  1. 04-12-2012 02:17 PM #1
Hi everyone I'm Paul im in Virginia beach Virginia. I'm about to pick up a 81' automatic rabbit. I put some cag down for te current owner k hold onto it for me. My best friend wr3q referred me here. I currently own a 2007 mazdaspeed3 and blew the motor this past Saturday so she is down for the count. I have always loved the way MK1'S look, this one was truly a great find.

Some history behind the car. It's an 81' rabbit automatic. The first owner bought it brand new then sold it in 82' when it stayed with the second owner till January of this year. The guy was 76 and had to sell because the doctors told him he was not aloud to drive anymore. The current owner (guy I'm buying it off of bought it in january and cleaned it up a bit and is now selling it again (I guess he does this a lot) it is very clean and has a little rust on the right rear fender, so far that's the only rust that either me or the current owner have found on it. It is all original and has never been modified. My friend and I have full intentions on fully restoring the car to its original state, with some added goodies.

I am new to anything and every thing VW aside from my friends car. I am excited for this as a dd till my car gets back on the road and this can be gutted and restored.

Some pics of my speed (maybe some of you have seen me around)

Just a little stanced for the track.

Most Current Modification... A BIG Hole in my block...

And the MK1 that might turn me to what us Mazda guys call... The Dark Side

I am extremely impressed for the condition of this car especially the interior and the dash, from what I have heard most MK1's by now have cracks in the dash, and the interior is usually pretty beat up. I am also impressed with the little amount of... How do you guys say? CANCER on the car lol.

You will be seeing me around a lot when it comes time to restore this baby.

Thanks and I'm happy to be apart of the VW family
